The 6000 LB Diaries with Dr. Now is a reality series on Lifetime which follows ten morbidly obese individuals, whose combined weight exceeds 6,000 pounds, as they pursue bariatric[ clarification needed ] surgery and a chance at a new life with the help of surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan aka Dr. Now. The show uses intimate diary cams and confessionals to document the participants' emotional and physical struggles, with Dr. Now providing the tools and team of specialists needed to address their weight-related issues. [1] [2]
The format of the show is very similar to that of My 600-lb Life, in which participants main goals are to lose weight. The structure from the franchise is somewhat different. Each subject records raw footage through personal video diaries, capturing moments that many other shows may cut out during editing. There is no voiceover, or added dramatization, just the facts, the reality, and the consequences of years of neglect. [3]
