The Shade of Poison Trees is the fifth studio album recorded by the band Dashboard Confessional.
The Shade of Poison Trees had been recorded over 10 days in Florida with producer Don Gilmore and engineer Mark Kiczula. Recording took place at Bieler Brothers Studio with assistant engineer Matt LaPlant, and at The Dungeon with assistant engineer Joe Williams. Gilmore mixed the recordings with help from Kiczula, at Bieler Brothers Studio. George Marino mastered the recordings at Sterling Sound. [2]
The Shade of Poison Trees is heralded as a return to form, so to speak, breaking away from the electric, full band sound of their previous two albums and returning to the acoustic sound that Carrabba was previously known for. However, the album is unmistakably more mature, as the songs sound similar to their more recent work, yet without the heavily produced style.
On August 16, 2007, The Shade of Poison Trees was announced for release, and "Thick as Thieves" was made available for streaming via the group's Myspace account. [3] Demos of the iTunes bonus track "Tonight I'll Take What I Can Get" were previously posted online in 2002; [4] the UK bonus track "The Only Gift That I Need" previously appeared on a KROQ compilation album. [5] On August 22, the band posted "Little Bombs" on their Myspace page. [6] [7] On September 7, Chris Carrabba posted a video message on his Myspace blog, inviting his fans to create a music video for the song "Thick as Thieves". The winning director wins a prize of $2,500 cash, two VIP tickets, and a "Golden Ticket" to any and all Dashboard Confessional concerts in the next year. From mid-September to mid-November, Carrabba went on a solo US tour [8] with support from Augustana and John Ralston. [9] On September 26, "Keep Watch for the Mines" was posted to their Myspace. [10]
The album in its entirety was posted on the band's Myspace page on September 28, 2007, and it was released on October 2 on Vagrant Records. [8] [11] "Thick as Thieves" was released to radio on October 2. [12] In November and December, the band went a brief arena tour in the UK with Maroon 5. [13] "These Bones" was Dashboard Confessional's second single off the album and was released December 3, 2007. In late January 2008, the band went on a brief tour of the UK. [14] In April, the band went on another tour of the UK. "Thick as Thieves" was released as a single on April 14. [15] In October and November, the band co-headlined the Rock Band Live tour with Panic! at the Disco. They were supported by Plain White T's and the Cab. [16]

Following its release, The Shade of Poison Trees debuted at number 18 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling about 48,000 copies in its first week. [26] [27]

Dashboard Confessional is an American rock band from Boca Raton, Florida, formed in 1999 and led by singer Chris Carrabba. The name of the band is derived from the song "The Sharp Hint of New Tears" off their debut album, The Swiss Army Romance.
Further Seems Forever is an American rock band formed in 1998 in Pompano Beach, Florida. Over its initial eight-year run the band experienced several lineup changes, resulting in a different lead vocalist performing on each of their first three studio albums. Original singer Chris Carrabba recorded The Moon Is Down (2001) with the group before leaving to start Dashboard Confessional. He was replaced by Jason Gleason, who performed on How to Start a Fire (2003) but left the band the following year. Former Sense Field vocalist Jon Bunch joined Further Seems Forever for Hide Nothing (2004). The band broke up in 2006 but reunited four years later with Carrabba on vocals. Their fourth studio album, Penny Black, was released in 2012.

The label focuses on rock, but features artists in a variety of other genres including folk, soul, electronic, and pop. It is home to artists such as The 1975, Death Spells, Eels, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, CRUISR, Active Child, PJ Harvey, School of Seven Bells, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, James Vincent McMorrow, Black Joe Lewis, Wake Owl, Blitzen Trapper, and Bombay Bicycle Club. Originally, Vagrant Records was mostly focused on emo bands such as Dashboard Confessional, Saves the Day, The Get Up Kids, Senses Fail, and Alkaline Trio. The label is considered one of the pre-eminent labels of the emo music scene.
"Vindicated" is a song by American rock band Dashboard Confessional. It was written by Chris Carrabba with production from Don Gilmore and Gil Norton. The song was released on May 31, 2004 as the lead single from the soundtrack of the film Spider-Man 2. The song was included on Dashboard Confessional's fourth studio album, Dusk and Summer (2006) as a bonus track on some pressings and on deluxe edition versions. Played over the film's end credits, "Vindicated" is the theme for the film.

The discography of Alkaline Trio, a Chicago-based punk rock band, consists of nine studio albums, three compilation albums, one split album, four EPs, one video album, sixteen singles, one demo, nine digital releases, and thirteen music videos. Alkaline Trio formed in 1996 with an initial lineup of Matt Skiba, Rob Doran (bass), and Glenn Porter (drums). This lineup released the band's demo tape and the 1997 single "Sundials" on Chicago record label Johann's Face Records, after which Doran left the band and was replaced by Dan Andriano. The group then signed to Asian Man Records and released their debut EP For Your Lungs Only and album Goddamnit in 1998. A second EP, I Lied My Face Off, followed in 1999 and resulted in their first music video, for the song "Goodbye Forever". In 2000 Asian Man released the band's second album, Maybe I'll Catch Fire, as well as the compilation album Alkaline Trio, collecting most of their previously released early material. Porter then left and was replaced by Mike Felumlee.

The Fire is the fourth studio album by American post-hardcore/emo band Senses Fail and was released on October 26, 2010 through Vagrant Records. It is the first album since Zach Roach replaced Heath Saraceno on guitar, however Garrett Zablocki recorded all the guitar on the album. It is the last album to feature Zablocki as well, as he left the band in 2011.
Crooked Shadows is the seventh studio album by American rock band Dashboard Confessional. It was released on February 9, 2018 through Fueled by Ramen and Dine Alone Records. It is their first studio album in nine years, following 2009's Alter the Ending.
