The Shluchim Office

The Shluchim Office is a Brooklyn, New York-based organization affiliated with the Chabad-Lubavitch Hasidic movement. The organization was first formed in 1986 upon the request of the Seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson. The central mission of the organization is to provide support, services and assistance for Chabad Shluchim. [1]

Menachem Mendel Schneerson Hasidic rabbi

Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson (April 18, 1902 OS – June 12, 1994 / AM 11 Nissan 5662 – 3 Tammuz 5754, Hebrew: מנחם מענדל שניאורסאהן‎, known to many as the Lubavitcher Rebbe or simply as the Rebbe, was a Russian Empire–born American Orthodox Jewish rabbi, and the last rebbe of the Lubavitcher Hasidic dynasty. He is considered one of the most influential Jewish leaders of the 20th century.

Programs

The Kinus for Young Shluchos is a conference organized by the Shluchim Office, first convened in 1995. The conference is held twice a year, one for boys, one for girls. The dates correspond the men's and women's Shluchim conferences. [2] [3]

The Nigri International Shluchim Online School was established by the Shluchim Office in 2002, designed specifically for the children of Chabad Shluchim who often live in cities and countries where there are no local religious Jewish schools. The school has over 500 students and 50 staff. [4] [5] [6]

The Kushner International Tefillin Bank was established by the Shluchim Office to subsidize pairs of Tefillin for any Jew committed to using them regularly. [7]

Tefillin, are a set of small black leather boxes containing scrolls of parchment inscribed with verses from the Torah. In Rabbinic Judaism, which is the predominant form of Judaism today, tefillin are worn by observant adult Jewish males during weekday morning prayers. In all orthodox communities they are only worn by men.

Merkos L'Inyonei Chinuch is the central educational arm of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement. A Chabad house is a centre for disseminating traditional Judaism by the Chabad movement. Chabad Houses are run by a Chabad Shaliach (emissary), his wife – a Shlucha – and his family. They are located in cities and on or near college campuses.

Rohr Jewish Learning Institute

The Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI) is an initiative of the ultra-orthodox Chabad-Lubavitch Hasidic Jewish organization that offers adult Jewish courses on Jewish history, law, ethics, philosophy and rabbinical literature worldwide. It also develops Jewish studies curricula for women, college students, teenagers, and seniors. Its principal benefactor is George Rohr and its chairman is Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky.

David (Dovid) Eliezrie is a member of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement and the founder and Director of North County Chabad Center and spiritual leader of Congregation Beth Meir HaCohen in Yorba Linda, California. He is an author, speaker, activist and Rohr Jewish Learning Institute advisory board member.
