The Streets of Tanasbourne is an outdoor shopping mall located in the Tanasbourne area of Hillsboro in the U.S. state of Oregon. Opened in October 2004, the center provides shopping to the Hillsboro/Beaverton area west of Portland, near the Sunset Highway. The $55 million center is an open-air complex designed to mimic older downtown shopping districts and has 55 store locations.
Plans for a specialty retail center in the Tanasbourne area were originally announced in 1999. [2] [3] [4] The original plan had construction beginning in June 2001 on the project that would have two parking garages. [5] In all, these plans called for a $60 million project on 19 acres (77,000 m2) to open in the summer of 2002. [6] Hillsboro approved the project in 2000, but construction was delayed. [7]
Eventually developed by Continental Real Estate and designed by Field Paoli, The Streets of Tanasbourne cost $55 million to complete. [8] This shopping complex was the last development in a larger Hillsboro project titled Tanasbourne Town Center. [9] Originally The Streets of Tanasbourne were to be named the Shops of Tanasbourne. [2] [4] However, the project's name was changed when Continental Real Estate acquired the project from Federal Realty Investment Trust. [8] Macy's (formerly Meier & Frank and one of the center's anchor stores) signed up as planned, however very little had been done to attract other tenants by 2002. [8]
Construction on the project began in 2003. [10] The Meier & Frank opened in early October 2004, [11] while other stores finished construction later that month. [7] [12] The grand opening for the 386,000 square feet (35,900 m2) shopping complex was November 6, 2004. [13] The 55-store complex is designed to resemble a standard Main Street style shopping district with open air, free-standing stores complete with parallel parking on the streets within the complex. [7] [14] When it opened it was the first of the lifestyle centers to open in the Portland metropolitan area. [15]
The shopping center is a 386,000-square-foot (35,900 m2) outdoor lifestyle center. [7] As a lifestyle center, the target customer for the center are upper-income shoppers. [14] Designed to look like Main Street, the center includes retail and restaurants. [7] Retailers include anchors Macy's (formerly Meier & Frank) and REI, while restaurants include Buffalo Wild Wings, Macaroni Grill and P. F. Chang's, among others. While not situated along a highway or MAX Light Rail, the center was estimated to have approximately 225,000 people within five miles in 2005. [7] An apartment complex abuts the shopping center on the west. [7] The Streets of Tanasbourne had 49 tenants as of March 2010. [16]

Lloyd Center is a shopping mall in the Lloyd District of Portland, Oregon, United States, just northeast of downtown. It is owned by Arrow Retail of Dallas. The mall features three floors of shopping with the third level serving mostly as professional office spaces, a food court, and U.S. Education Corporation's Carrington College. There are currently no anchors in the mall. There are vacant anchor spaces left by Macy's, Marshalls, Nordstrom, and Sears. Junior anchors include Barnes & Noble and Ross Dress for Less.
The Meier & Frank Building is a fifteen-story, glazed terra cotta building located in downtown Portland, Oregon, across from the northeast corner of Pioneer Courthouse Square. The building is the former flagship store and headquarters building for the Meier & Frank department store chain, which was taken over by Macy's in 2006. In 2006–2007, the building's lower floors were remodeled into an updated Macy's department store, while the upper floors were renovated in 2008 into a luxury hotel known as The Nines. In 2016, Macy's announced that it planned to close the store in spring 2017, and the store closed in April 2017.

First opened in 1914 in a Carnegie library building, the system provides services to a population area of 137,000 people. One library is located near downtown in Shute Park, with the other location in the central portion of the city near the airport. The Hillsboro Public Library is part of Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS), which ensures library service is available to all residents of Washington County. Bridgeport Village is a lifestyle center located in Tualatin and Tigard, Oregon, United States, operated by CenterCal Properties. The center opened on May 19, 2005 and is located in one of the Portland metropolitan area's most affluent areas. The center has a variety of services, including valet service, restaurant reservations, a courtesy shuttle to vehicles, and umbrellas available to borrow for free. The center features a water and fire fountain, and an Italian gazebo and kiosks by Neri.
The Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks and Minerals is a non-profit museum in Hillsboro, Oregon, United States. Located just north of the Sunset Highway on the northern edge of Hillsboro, the earth science museum is in the Portland metropolitan area. Opened in 1997, the museum's collections date to the 1930s with the museum housed in a home built to display the rock and mineral collections of the museum founders. The ranch-style home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the first of its kind listed in Oregon. In 2015 the museum became a Smithsonian Affiliate museum.

The Norm Thompson offices were closed and consolidated due to Bluestem's acquisition of their parent company, Orchard Brands, in July 2015. Founded in 1949 by Norman A. (Norm) Thompson as a mail order business, it grew to annual sales of $200 million before it was sold to Golden Gate Capital Partners in 2006. The company sells clothing, gadgets, furniture, kitchen items, and gift items from its namesake catalog as well as from its Solutions and Sahalie brands. John Difrancesco serves as president and chief executive of the 500 employee company.
The Sunset Esplanade is an outdoor shopping center located in the southeast part of Hillsboro, in the U.S. state of Oregon. Opened in 1989, the center is along Tualatin Valley Highway at Minter Bridge Road and includes about five anchor tenants and about thirty other tenants in a complex with about 363,000 square feet (33,700 m2) of space. Neighbors opposed the center when it was proposed, due to concerns over increased traffic and how it would blend with existing residential neighborhoods. After appeals to the Hillsboro City Council and state land use board, the $23 million project received approval almost two years after first proposed.
Salem Center is a multi-building, enclosed shopping center in downtown Salem, Oregon, United States. Located on both sides of Center Street between High and Liberty streets, the mall has 80 stores and a food court. Opened in 1979, the mall has three anchor stores with 650,000 square feet (60,000 m2) of gross leasable space located on and two floors. The anchors are: Kohl's, Ross Dress for Less, and Macy's with two vacant anchors last occupied by JCPenney and Nordstrom. The mall also features five sky bridges, one of which connects Macy's to the mall, another connects the mall to an adjacent city-owned parking garage, with another connecting the former JCPenney to the mall, in addition to connecting the two mall buildings across Center Street. Salem Center is managed by Jones Lang Lasalle.
Shute Park Plaza is a shopping center located in Hillsboro, Oregon, United States. Situated along Tualatin Valley Highway, the 18-tenant center takes its name from Shute Park, which is located across the highway. The land the mall sits on was once part of the park, housing a baseball diamond. Shute Park Plaza opened in 1985 at a cost of $6 million.
