The Surface Seems So Far is the ninth studio album by South African rock band Seether. It was released on 20 September 2024 through Fantasy Records, [1] It is the follow up to the band's eighth studio album, Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum (2020). [2] According to vocalist/rhythm guitarist Shaun Morgan, it is the band's heaviest and most intense album, [3] and it was written during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. [4] It is also the band's first album to feature no acoustic songs.

The first single from the album titled "Judas Mind" was released on 10 July 2024. [5] The second single, titled "Illusion", was released on 23 August 2024. [6]

Seether are a South African rock band founded in 1999 in Pretoria, Gauteng. The band originally performed under the name Saron Gas until 2002, when they moved to the United States and changed it to Seether to avoid confusion with the deadly chemical known as sarin gas. Lead vocalist and guitarist Shaun Morgan is the band's longest serving member, bassist Dale Stewart joined shortly after formation while drummer John Humphrey joined them for the band's second album. Since 2018, the band has been employing second guitarist Corey Lowery.
