The Tour of Gymnastics Superstars

The Tour of Gymnastics Superstars was a 2008 nationwide concert tour featuring 17 American gymnasts [1] plus recording artists Jordan Pruitt, Carly Patterson, and KSM. [2] The tour visited 34 cities in more than 20 U.S. states. [3]

Contents

The first show, in Reno, Nevada, was taped for a national broadcast on MyNetworkTV [2] and included a musical performance by Hannah Montana actor Mitchel Musso. [4]

Video from the second show, in San Diego, California, was included in Frosted Pink with a Twist, a television special about women's cancers (gymnast Shawn Johnson has a grandmother who is a cancer survivor [5] [6] ). The special, which was broadcast on ABC on October 12, 2008, [6] also featured singers Jesse McCartney, Kenny Loggins, and Grammy Award singers Cyndi Lauper and Carole King. [7] [8]

The re-release contains demos and remixes of previously released material, as well as new artwork.

She is the 2008 Olympic all-around champion, a five-time Olympic medalist, the 2005 and 2007 World champion on the balance beam, and the 2005 World champion on the uneven bars. She is also a four-time all-around U.S. national champion, winning twice as a junior and twice as a senior. With nine World Championships medals, seven of them individual, Liukin is tied with Shannon Miller for the third-highest tally of World Championship medals among U.S. gymnasts. Liukin also tied Miller's record as the American gymnast having won the most medals in a single non-boycotted Olympic Games. In October 2011, Liukin announced that she was returning to gymnastics with the hopes of making a second Olympic team. Liukin did not make the 2012 Olympic team and retired from the sport on July 2, 2012.

From 2009 to 2013, she competed at the University of Georgia, the 10-time NCAA champion in gymnastics.

She was one of only a few gymnasts to score over 17.00 under the 2005–2008 Code of Points, and her 7.7 difficulty score on bars in 2008 was one of the highest in the world.

Jonathan Alan Horton is a former American artistic gymnast. He is the 2008 Olympic silver medalist on high bar, the 2010 World all-around bronze medalist, a two-time Olympian, a two-time U.S. National All-Around Champion, and a 17-time medalist at the U.S. National Championships. At the 2008 Olympics, he also won a bronze medal with his U.S. teammates in the team competition. He also competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where he qualified for the high bar event final and finished in sixth place. In 2016, he had surgery on his left rotator cuff and as a result was unable to qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

He is notable for being the coach of 2008 Olympic balance beam champion Shawn Johnson and 2012 Olympic individual all-around champion Gabby Douglas. He coached senior US gymnasts Norah Flatley and Rachel Gowey and junior US gymnast Victoria Nguyen.

Chow's Gymnastics and Dance Institute, commonly referred to as Chow's, is an American women's artistic gymnastics academy based in West Des Moines, Iowa. The academy was founded by Chinese former artistic gymnast Liang Chow. One of the country's most prestigious gymnastics academies, the club has produced Olympic champions, Shawn Johnson and Gabrielle Douglas, and several upcoming elites such as Norah Flatley and Rachel Gowey.

Shawn Johnson East is an American former artistic gymnast. She is the 2008 Olympic balance beam gold medalist and team, all-around and floor exercise silver medalist. Johnson is also the 2007 all-around World Champion, and a five-time Pan American Games gold medalist, winning the team titles in 2007 and 2011, as well as titles in the all-around, uneven bars, and balance beam in 2007.

The United States women's national artistic gymnastics team represents the United States in FIG international competitions.

The 2008 U.S. Olympic gymnastics team trials were held from June 19 to 22, 2008, at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia.
