List of Olympic male artistic gymnasts for the United States

American male artistic gymnasts have competed at every Olympic Games since 1904, except for 1908, 1912, and 1980. [1] In total, there have been 223 American male gymnasts who have competed at the Olympics. [1]

History

Over 100 athletes competed at the 1904 Olympics, and American teams won the gold, silver, and bronze in the team all-around and a total of 30 medals across all of the events. [2] The United States returned to men's gymnastics at the 1920 Olympics, but did not win any medals. [3] At the 1924 Olympics, Frank Kriz won the gold medal on the vault. [4] At the 1932 Olympics, the men's team won the silver medal behind Italy. [5] The next medal by an American man was not won until 1976 when Peter Kormann won the bronze medal on the floor exercise. [6] At the 1984 Summer Olympics, the United States team won the gold medal. Additionally, the 1984 Olympic team won seven individual medals. [7] At the 1992 Olympics, Trent Dimas won the gold medal on the horizontal bar. [8] Then at the 1996 Summer Olympics, Jair Lynch won the silver medal on the parallel bars. [9] The men's team won the silver medal behind Japan at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Additionally, Paul Hamm won the gold medal in the all-around as well as the silver medal on the horizontal bar. [10] At the 2008 Olympics, the men's team won the bronze medal, and Jonathan Horton won the silver medal on the horizontal bar. [11] Danell Leyva won the bronze medal in the all-around at the 2012 Olympics. [12] Leyva also won the silver medal on the parallel bars and the horizontal bar at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Additionally, Alex Naddour won the bronze medal on the pommel horse. [13]

Fabian Hambüchen is a retired German gymnast who was an Olympic champion on horizontal bar in Rio 2016, World champion in Stuttgart 2007 on the same apparatus, as well as six times European champion on various other occasions and on different apparatus, including high bar, his most successful discipline. Apart from that, Fabian also won gold medals at European Games and at 2015 Summer Universiade. He has a full set of Olympics medals, one in each color, as he is the 2016 Olympic champion, 2012 Olympic silver medalist and 2008 Olympic bronze medalist on the individual horizontal bar event. Since the end of his active career, he has appeared in various television productions and advertising partnerships.

Romeo Neri was an Italian gymnast. He won three gold medals at the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, becoming, along with Helene Madison of United States, the most successful athlete there. He previously won a silver medal at the 1928 Summer Olympics. In 1934 he won a silver medal and a bronze medal at the world championships in Budapest.

He is also the 2011 US national all-around gold medalist and the 2011 world champion on the parallel bars. He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team and won four gold medals at the 2012 Pacific Rim Championships. He has trained alongside Olympic and World Championships medalist Jonathan Horton as a junior, college, and senior elite gymnast. On August 17, 2017, he announced his retirement from artistic gymnastics.

Elsabeth Ann Black is a Canadian artistic gymnast. She is a four-time Olympian, having represented her country at the 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024 Olympic games. She is the 2017 World all-around silver medallist, making her the first Canadian gymnast to win a world all-around medal, and she led the Canadian women's gymnastics team to a bronze medal in the 2022 World Championships team final, the first world team medal won by a Canadian gymnastics team. Samuel Anthony Mikulak is an American gymnastics coach. A retired artistic gymnast, he was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team. He is a six-time U.S. national all-around champion, the 2018 World bronze medalist on the horizontal bar, and a three-time Olympian. He is also an eight-time NCAA champion, winning the team, individual all-around, and several individual event titles at the 2011, 2013, and 2014 NCAA Men's Gymnastics championships. In 2023, he started serving as a gymnastics coach at EVO Gymnastics.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Nile Wilson</span> Former British artistic gymnast

Nile Michael Wilson is a former British artistic gymnast. He won an Olympic bronze medal in the men's horizontal bar at the 2016 Summer Olympics; he was a world medallist as a member of the silver-medal winning British team at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, the first world men's team medal in British gymnastics history. A five-time Commonwealth Games champion, he won the all-around title in 2018, and is a former European horizontal bar champion, the first Briton to win the title. In January 2021, Wilson announced his retirement from competitive gymnastics due to injuries and mental health concerns. In March 2023, he won the fifteenth series of Dancing on Ice with dance partner Olivia Smart.

Nikita Vladimirovich Nagornyy is a Russian artistic gymnast and two-time Olympian, representing Russia in 2016 and ROC in 2020. He was part of the teams who won gold at the 2020 Olympic Games and 2019 World Championships and silver at the 2016 Olympic Games and 2018 World Championships.

Tang Chia-hung is a Taiwanese artistic gymnast. He won the gold medal on the horizontal bar and the silver medal on the floor exercise at the 2018 Asian Games. He is the 2019 Summer Universiade horizontal bar champion. He competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics and he won the bronze medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics on the horizontal bar.

Brandon Briones is an American artistic gymnast. He has been a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team and is the 2018 Youth Olympic vault champion. Briones was an alternate for the 2020 Olympic men's gymnastics team.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Brody Malone</span> American gymnast (born 2000)

John Brody Malone is an American artistic gymnast. He has been a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team since 2020 and represented the United States at the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games. He was a member of the bronze medal-winning team at the 2024 Summer Olympics. He is a three-time United States national all-around champion. On horizontal bar, he is the 2021 World Championship bronze medalist and the 2022 World Champion. With three Olympic and World Championship medals, Malone is tied as the ninth most decorated U.S. male gymnast of all time. He is also a ten-time NCAA National Champion.
