Gymnastics events have been staged at the Olympic Games since 1896. [1] French female gymnasts have participated in every Summer Olympics since 1928, except for 1932, 1936, and 1980. [2] [3] A total of 64 female gymnasts have represented France. French women have won one medal at the Olympics: the 2004 uneven bars gold, which was won by Émilie Le Pennec. [4] [5]

Svetlana Vasilyevna Khorkina is a retired Russian artistic gymnast. She competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics, the 2000 Summer Olympics, and the 2004 Summer Olympics. During her career, Khorkina won seven Olympic medals and twenty World Championship medals. Over time, she medaled in every event at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. She was also the first gymnast to win three all-around titles at the World Championships and only the second female artistic gymnast ever, after Nadia Comăneci, to win three European All-Around titles. Khorkina is regarded as one of the most successful female gymnasts of all time.
Courtney Anne Kupets Carter is an American former artistic gymnast. She is a two-time Olympic medalist from the 2004 Olympics, the 2002 world champion on the uneven bars, the 2003 U.S. national all-around champion, and the 2004 U.S. national all-around co-champion. She is also a member of the gold-medal-winning U.S. team at the 2003 World Championships.
Émilie Le Pennec is a French retired artistic gymnast. Le Pennec was the 2004 Olympic Champion on the uneven bars and was the first female French gymnast to win an Olympic medal in women's artistic gymnastics.
Elizabeth Kimberly Tweddle is a retired British artistic gymnast. Renowned for her uneven bar and floor routines, she was the first female gymnast from Great Britain to win a medal at the European Championships, World Championships, and Olympic Games. Tweddle, known for her consistency and longevity as an elite gymnast, is regarded as a pioneer of the renaissance of British gymnastics at the beginning of the twenty-first century that saw the country's gymnastics programme progress from 'also ran' to consistent global competitiveness.
Rebecca "Becky" Downie is a British artistic gymnast who competed at the 2008 and 2016 Summer Olympics. She is a double European champion and 2014 Commonwealth Games champion on the uneven bars as well as the 2019 World silver medallist.

Aliya Farkhatovna Mustafina is a retired Russian artistic gymnast and current coach. She is the 2010 all-around world champion, the 2013 European all around champion, the 2012 and 2016 Olympic uneven bars champion, and a seven-time Olympic medalist, tied with Simone Biles for the most Olympic medals in the last 20 years of any women’s artistic gymnast.
Larisa Andreea Iordache is a former Romanian artistic gymnast. She represented Romania at the 2012 Olympic Games, winning a bronze medal with the team, and at the 2020 Olympic Games.

She finished fourth alongside her teammates at the 2016 Gymnastics Olympic Test Event in Rio de Janeiro, and she represented France at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She won a bronze medal in the team final at the 2016 European Championships.
