The Violence is a studio album by British singer-songwriter Darren Hayman. [1] It was released through Fortuna Pop! in 2012. The Violence was Hayman's first album featuring backing band The Long Parliament. It is the third and final part in Hayman's "Essex Trilogy". [2]

At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album has an average score of 81 based on 9 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim". [4] Marc Burrows of The Quietus wrote that "these are wonderful pop songs, each a compacted treasure of melody and heart." [15]

Darren Hayman Musical artist

Darren Hayman is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is best known as the writer, lead singer, and guitarist in Hefner. Since Hefner disbanded in 2002, Hayman has embarked on a prolific solo career releasing twelve albums under his own name and appearing on albums by Papernut Cambridge, Rotifer and The Great Electric. He has regularly worked with The Wave Pictures, producing an album for them, directing three of their music videos and briefly employing them as his backing band. In January 2011 Hayman recorded and released a song every day in the month of January, working with many collaborators. Hayman also paints and has exhibited his work at exhibitions about animals in space and racing dogs.

"Who Needs Love Like That" is the debut single released by British synthpop duo Erasure. The song was released in the UK on Mute Records in 1985 as a prelude to their debut album, Wonderland (1985). The accompanying music video was directed by John Scarlett Davies and produced by Nick Verden for Aldabra.
