This Window was a British musical group formed by Peter Bright around 1985, although earlier tape experiments existed from 1979 to 1984.
These tape experiments formed the basic philosophy of This Window. The analogue tape machine became the main instrument used to create ‘songs’. Interest in experimentation had been nurtured whilst being a member of the Exeter College of Art and Design bands, T.34 (1978–1980) and The Urge (1979). The Urge supported Adam and the Ants and Bauhaus and were offered a record contract with 4AD but decided to split up and consequently did not sign. In A Glass Darkly (1981) was a project with the lead singer from The Urge, Russell Young (the husband to be of Finola Hughes) and two ballet dancers who performed to a tape backing track of a dripping tap, only a handful of gigs were played in London. This project ended and Peter later joined Finish the Story (1981–1986) as guitarist.
The perfect conduit for This Window’s music and art was the Cassette Culture and Mail Art scenes. These networks of artists and musicians encouraged an early form of open source cooperation, with projects being shared and created. This methodology fitted in with This Window's approach to creativity.
This Window released two solo cassette albums ('Hope' & 'Jude The Obscure') in the UK and several albums were released in Europe, the most successful being 'Extraction' & 'Extraction2' (1989 & 1995) both of these were released by EE Tapes (Belgium). Other releases include: Ignition Mix on Old Europa Cafe label, 'En Face' (France) and 'Morning' (Germany). This Window were one of the leading exponents of the 'Cassette Underground', with radio play in both Europe and America. Critical acclaim was received from both sides of the Atlantic.
Live performances have been sporadic, a notable one was, the 3rd mail-art festival (1990) at OJC Clichee in Sint-Niklaas. This festival was a multimedia event, a combination of a postal art (Mail Art) exhibition, live music event and live radio show.
After a ten-year gap, a CD was released (together with Finish the Story) in 2005 called 'The Sampler No. 05', which was a collection of old and new material. This CD was received very well in the media and was followed up with two more solo CD-R releases in 2007.
In December 2008, Electro Arc label release ‘Where Is My Jesus’ on their Net.Ware Stimulation compilation album. In January 2009, ‘Cassette Culture 1989–2009’ was released as a commercial download. This project contained remixes of a series of demo recordings made in 2008 and a section of the live Plac.Art.X[ clarification needed ] set that was streamed over the Internet to Regensburg Germany in August 2007. This release also contains a complete remixed version of 'Extraction' which was originally released in 1989. These remixes were by Jake Bright.
Over the years This Window became the pseudonym of Peter Bright.

His work utilizes guitar and laptop computers to blend melody with treated samples and glitch production. He lives and works in Vienna, and currently records on the UK label Touch.

Final is a project of English musician Justin Broadrick, creator of the band Godflesh, which he started when he was 13 years old. Unlike Godflesh, Final is primarily electronic in nature, taking on a space-like, dark ambient sound.

Kill Switch...Klick, also known as KsK and Kill Switch is the name of an American industrial rock band. The band is best known for its releases on Cleopatra Records and Go-Kustom Rekords. KsK was formed in 1991 by D.A. Sebasstian, a writer, film maker, musician and artist who had relocated from San Bernardino, California, to Seattle, Washington, late in 1989 where he currently resides.
Chris Carter is an English musician, best known for being a member of Throbbing Gristle and the duo Chris & Cosey, both with his longtime partner Cosey Fanni Tutti.
The Cities 97.1 Sampler was a series of albums, cassette tapes and CDs containing "live in studio" recordings from Studio C located at radio station Cities 97.1, KTCZ-FM in Minneapolis at 97.1 MHz. It occasionally contained live tracks recorded from local concerts in the Twin Cities. It was released annually during the holidays from 1989 to 2018. New volumes would appear each November at local Target stores in time for Christmas gifts. In later years the sampler was also available on Target.com. Proceeds benefited Minnesota charitable organizations. The albums, cassettes and CDs usually generated over $500,000 every year for Minnesota charities. In the last several years, the recordings sold quickly, disappearing within minutes in many stores.

Merzbox is a box set compilation by the Japanese noise musician Merzbow. It consists of 50 CDs spanning Merzbow's career from 1979 to 1997. 30 discs are taken from long out of print releases, while 20 are composed mainly of unreleased material. The box also contains two CD-ROMs, six CD-sized round cards, six round stickers, a poster, a black long-sleeve T-shirt, a medallion, and the Merzbook, all packaged together in a "fetish" black rubber box. It is limited to 1000 numbered copies. A Merzbox Sampler was released in 1997.
Radio Massacre International is a trio of British musicians, Steve Dinsdale, Duncan Goddard, and Gary Houghton. They specialize in improvisational experimental electronic music, utilising vintage synthesizers and sampled sounds alongside electric guitar. They are also exponents of the Mellotron keyboard. More recently, they have begun to incorporate bass guitar and drums by varying degrees in an attempt to stretch musical boundaries within the confines of a three-piece. Their music has been described alternatively as ambient music, space rock, Krautrock, New Age, Berlin School, and various other terms, although the band itself prefers the label "organic music". Points of reference include bands ranging from Tangerine Dream to "Rabbit"-era Chas and Dave.
Eric Gaffney is an American songwriter and recording artist, and has been home recording on cassette since 1981. An active participant in the Western Mass hardcore scene, in 1983 he founded, wrote songs for, and drummed with Grey Matter, opening hall shows with Jerry's Kids, F.U.s, The Freeze, Big Boys, Raw Power, Adrenalin O.D., Siege, 7 Seconds, Outpatients, Pajama Slave Dancers, Da Stupids, and others.
Theo Travis is a British saxophonist, flautist and composer. He is best known for being a member of Soft Machine which he joined in 2006 while the group was still using the "Legacy" suffix and for being a member of Gong from 1999 to 2010.
