Thymesia is an action role-playing video game developed by Taiwanese developer OverBorder Studio and published by Team17 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S alongside a cloud-based version for Nintendo Switch on August 18, 2022. Another cloud-based version for Amazon Luna was released on September 15, 2022. [2] The game borrows mechanics from the Dark Souls series with both critics and the developers referring to it as a soulsborne game.
The kingdom has fallen, and alchemy is now being widely used across the land. Attempts to halt the use of magic have failed, and plague-infected monsters are prowling the streets. Protagonist Corvus is the kingdom's only hope. [3]
Players assume the role of Corvus, covered in a feather cape and plague mask, on a quest to save the kingdom from a plague. Players move around to various locations battling mutant monsters and infected inhabitants.
Thymesia received mixed reviews on Metacritic. [4] [5] [6] IGN wrote, "Thymesia's aggressive combat can be enjoyable, but it's an adventure that's easily forgettable otherwise." [7] Although they felt some parts "don't gel", GameSpot said that it is overall "a small, smart, and rewarding Souls-like experience". [8]
