Timothy Joseph Zoehrer (born 25 September 1961) is a former Australian cricket player. He played as a wicket-keeper and is of Austrian descent. [1]
He began his career in the 1980–81 season with Western Australia in the Sheffield Shield as an understudy to Rod Marsh. After Marsh's retirement he became the number one state keeper and eventually the Australian Test keeper. He played ten Test matches between 1986 and 1987 when Australia were far from the top team in the world,touring New Zealand and India. He also played 22 One Day Internationals.
Zoehrer claims he was replaced as first-choice keeper after a personality clash with Australian coach and newly appointed selector,Bob Simpson. [2] He was replaced firstly by Greg Dyer and then Ian Healy. Zoehrer did,though,tour England twice,in 1989 and 1993,as Healy's deputy. Zoehrer was selected as a reserve for the 1987 Cricket World Cup. [3] He played his final One Day International in 1994,at Perth vs South Africa,seven years after his previous appearance again as a replacement for a rested Healy.
Zoehrer was a successful and popular keeper for Western Australia with a state record of 360 dismissals and also took 38 first-class wickets with his leg break bowling. In both of his tours of England he topped the first class bowling averages for the Australians on tour,taking 1 wicket for 9 runs in 1989 [4] and 12 wickets at an average of 20.8 in 1993. [5] However he never bowled at Test or One Day International level. He was controversially replaced by WA's Adam Gilchrist at the beginning of the 1994–95 season and never played first class or list-A cricket again.
Zoehrer later played and coached cricket in the Netherlands and wrote an autobiography,"The Gloves Are Off". [6]
Zoehrer played professional Australian rules football with Western Australian Football League (WAFL) club East Fremantle in 1982. [7]

Ian Andrew Healy is an Australian former international cricketer who played for Queensland domestically. A specialist wicketkeeper and useful right-hand middle-order batsman,he made an unheralded entry to international cricket in 1988,after only six first-class games. His work ethic and combativeness was much needed by an Australian team. Over the next decade,Healy was a key member of the side as it enjoyed a sustained period of success. By the time of his retirement,Healy held the world record for most Test dismissals by a wicket-keeper.

Rodney William Marsh was an Australian professional cricketer who played as a wicketkeeper for the Australian national team.

Gregory Charles Dyer is a former New South Wales and Australian wicketkeeper. Dyer played in six Tests and 23 ODIs from 1986 to 1988,including playing in the victorious 1987 World Cup Final. He toured India in 1986 as a back-up keeper.
Donald Tallon was an Australian cricketer who played 21 Test matches as a wicket-keeper between 1946 and 1953. He was widely regarded by his contemporaries as Australia's finest ever wicket-keeper and one of the best in Test history,with an understated style,an ability to anticipate the flight,length and spin of the ball and an efficient stumping technique. Tallon toured England as part of Don Bradman's Invincibles of 1948 and was recognised as one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1949 for his performances during that season. During his Test career,Tallon made 58 dismissals comprising 50 catches and 8 stumpings.

Mike Denness captained the English cricket team in Australia in 1974–75,playing as England in the 1974-75 Ashes series against the Australians and as the MCC in their other matches on the tour. Michael John Cox is a former Australian cricketer who played several matches for Western Australia during the mid-1980s. Born in Newcastle,Cox grew up in New South Wales,where he attended Maitland Boys High School and captained the school's cricket team. Having played for local teams in Maitland and Newcastle,he was selected for several regional representative sides before moving to Sydney where he played with Gordon in the Sydney grade cricket competition. Although Cox played several times at colts level,he was never selected for the New South Wales state team and eventually moved to Western Australia to further his opportunities. His only matches at state level came during the 1985–86 and 1986–87 seasons,when Western Australia's usual wicket-keeper,Tim Zoehrer,was unavailable due to national selection. Cox achieved moderate success in both Sheffield Shield and McDonald's Cup matches,but was dropped when after Zoehrer's return.
Mark Brendon Palmer is a former Australian cricketer who played a single List A match for Western Australia during the 1989–90 season. From Perth,Palmer played at state under-16 and under-19 level,and played several matches as wicket-keeper for the Australian under-19 cricket team during both the 1985–86 and 1986–87 seasons. He went on to attend the Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS),participating in its cricket program. Having previously played for the state colts team,Palmer's sole match at senior state level came against Sri Lanka,during its 1989–90 tour of Australia. The match,played at the end of Sri Lanka's tour,was the first of a two-part series,with both matches held at the WACA Ground in early February 1990. Western Australia trialled several new players in both matches,with Palmer one of four List A debutants in the match,alongside Brendan Julian,Chris Mack,and Darrin Ramshaw. Replacing usual state wicket-keeper Tim Zoehrer,Palmer was bowled by Rumesh Ratnayake for a golden duck,but took two catches in Sri Lanka's innings,off the bowling of Peter Capes and Steve Russell. He did not play at state level again.
Alex Tyson Carey is an Australian international cricketer. Formerly an Australian rules footballer,he is currently a wicket-keeper who plays for the Australian national team in all formats. In domestic cricket,he plays for South Australia and Adelaide Strikers. He was the captain of the Greater Western Sydney Giants in 2010,but when they joined the Australian Football League in 2012,he was left out of the squad and returned to his home state of South Australia,where he began to play domestic cricket.
