Northamptonshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Northamptonshire. Its limited overs team is called the Northants Steelbacks –a reference to the Northamptonshire Regiment which was formed in 1881. The name was supposedly a tribute to the soldiers' apparent indifference to the harsh discipline imposed by their officers. Founded in 1878,Northamptonshire (Northants) held minor status at first but was a prominent member of the early Minor Counties Championship during the 1890s. In 1905,the club joined the County Championship and was elevated to first-class status,since when the team have played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England.
Lancashire County Cricket Club represents the historic county of Lancashire in English cricket. The club has held first-class status since it was founded in 1864. Rashid Latif,is a Pakistani cricket coach and former cricketer who played for the Pakistan national cricket team in Tests and One Day Internationals from 1992 to 2003 as a right-handed wicket-keeper batsman. Damien Geoffrey Wright is an Australian cricket coach and former first-class cricketer who coached Hobart Hurricanes cricket team. Wright made his debut for Tasmania in 1997,playing with the team until switching to Victoria for the 2008–09 season. In 2002 he played in the Scottish cricket team as their one permitted overseas player—he also had previous spells in county cricket with Northamptonshire,Glamorgan and Somerset. He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler. He has a side-on bowling action and an ability to bounce the ball sharply. Wright started Coaching the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League 03 in 2013–14,he coached the team to defeat the Melbourne Stars,who were undefeated in the tournament until then. The Hurricanes then lost the final to the Perth Scorchers. Wright then coached the Hurricanes to the semi-finals in the Champions League T20 2014 in India.
Niall John O'Brien is a former Irish cricketer and a cricket commentator. He is a left-handed batsman and wicket-keeper. Domestically O'Brien began his professional career with Kent in 2004 before joining Northamptonshire at the start of 2007,spending six seasons there before joining Leicestershire for 2013.

David Trent Johnston is an Irish-Australian cricket coach and former player. He was born in Wollongong,New South Wales,and played his early cricket for New South Wales in Australian domestic competitions. A right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler,he later moved to Ireland,and made his debut for the Ireland cricket team in 2004. Johnston was subsequently named captain of Ireland,and was a regular fixture in the national team until his retirement in 2013. He coached the Hong Kong national cricket team from 2019 to 2022.
