Todd Thornton (born October 14, 1982) is a retired American artistic gymnast. He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team and won a bronze medal while representing the United States at the 2007 Pan American Games. He was the all-around champion in the United States at the 2005 U.S. National Gymnastics Championships.

Early life and education

Thornton was born October 14, 1982. He started gymnastics at seven years old. [1] He spent most of his childhood in the Clear Lake, Texas area. [2]

Gymnastics career

He was one of the "Houston Six", a group of elite men's gymnasts based out of the Houston area in the early 2000s that made an impact for the United States internationally. [3] In 1996, his family helped house teammate Sean Townsend. [4]

Domestically, Thornton had strong showings at numerous Winter Cup events from 2001 through 2005. He also performed well at the national championships, culminating in being the United States all-around champion at the 2005 U.S. National Gymnastics Championships.

Internationally, Thornton represented the United States as an alternate for the 2001 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships team and participated at the 2005 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He won a team bronze medal at the 2007 Pan American Games. He retired after the event. [1]

Personal life

After retirement from gymnastics, Thornton began coaching. [3] He worked in the Clear Lake, Texas area. [3] He and his wife Kimberly opened a gym with a business partner in 2014. [1] In 2016, they sold their portion and opened their own, Thornton's Gymnastics Center, in League City, Texas in August. [1] [5]

He earned a bronze medal as a member of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team. He was originally an alternate but was named to the team following the injury withdrawal of Paul Hamm. At the Games, Bhavsar earned a bronze medal with the U.S. team in Artistic Gymnastics with teammates Alexander Artemev, Joey Hagerty, Jonathan Horton, Justin Spring, and Kai Wen Tan. He was a contender for the 2004 Olympic Team and was named as an alternate.

Tyler Hideo Mizoguchi is a retired American artistic gymnast. He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team and won a bronze for the United States at the 2011 Pan American Games.

Christopher Dean Brooks is a retired American gymnast who represented the United States at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. He is now assistant coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks NCAA gymnastics team. He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team and won four gold medals at the 2012 Pacific Rim Championships. He has trained alongside Olympic and World Championships medalist Jonathan Horton as a junior, college, and senior elite gymnast. On August 17, 2017, he announced his retirement from artistic gymnastics.

Sean Lanier Townsend is an American artistic gymnast. He was a member of the United States men's national artistic gymnastics team and competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia and 1999 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He was part of the 2001 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships team where he became world champion on Parallel Bars and helped his team win a silver medal in the Team final. He also qualified for the men's individual all-around final where he placed 8th.
