Tolokonniella is found from Spain to Kazakhstan and South Siberia, with T. maura reaching to Algeria. [2]

Etymology

The genus name honors Russian artist and feminist Nadezhda Andreyevna Tolokonnikova, a founding member of the feminist group Pussy Riot. [1]
