Richard Douglas Fosbury was an American high jumper, who is considered one of the most influential athletes in the history of track and field. He won a gold medal at the 1968 Olympics, revolutionizing the high jump event with a "back-first" technique now known as the Fosbury flop. His method was to sprint diagonally towards the bar, then curve and leap backward over the bar, which gave him a much lower center of mass in flight than traditional techniques. Debbie Brill was developing her similar "Brill Bend" around the same time. This approach has seen nearly universal adoption since Fosbury's performance in Mexico. Though he never returned to the Olympics, Fosbury continued to be involved in athletics after retirement and served on the executive board of the World Olympians Association.
Otis Crandall Davis is a former American athlete, winner of two gold medals for record-breaking performances in both the 400 m and 4 × 400 m relay at the 1960 Summer Olympics. Davis set a new world record of 44.9 seconds in the 400 m event, and he became the first man to break the 45-second barrier.

Trevell Quinley is an American long jumper and competitor in the 2008 Summer Olympics. Quinley won the bronze medal at the 2002 World Junior Championships. At the 2007 World Championships he reached the final, but registered three invalid jumps and ended without a result.
Arthur Wood Tuck was an American track and field athlete. In 1919, he singlehandedly won the Oregon state high school track and field team championship for Redmond High School. He later competed for the University of Oregon track and field team and represented the United States in the 1920 Summer Olympics in Belgium.

In her culinary career, she was a semifinalist in 2020 for a James Beard Foundation Award. Burrell is the younger sister of former 100 m world record holder Leroy Burrell.

Vashti, like her brother two years ahead of her in school, jumped for Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nevada until March 2016 when she signed with Nike. She announced at that time she intended to continue her education at a university while competing as a professional athlete.

Tori Franklin is an American triple jumper. Tori Franklin is the first American woman to ever medal in the triple jump at a World Athletics Championships. Tori Franklin also notably competed in the women's triple jump at the 2019 and 2017 World Championships in Athletics, jumping a personal best 14.03 m in the preliminary round to place 9th & 13th respectively.
Rayfield Dupree is an American former track and field athlete, who competed in the men's triple jump at the 1976 Summer Olympics.
