Anthony 'Tony' Sertich (born January 2,1976) is a Minnesota politician and a former commissioner of the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board. [1] A Democrat,he served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2001 to 2011,representing District 5B,which includes portions of the Iron Range in St. Louis County,which is in the northeastern part of the state. He also served as House Majority Leader from 2007 to 2011. [2]
Sertich was first elected in 2000 at the age of 24,making him the youngest member of the Minnesota Legislature at that time. When Democrats took over the House in 2006,he was selected to serve as majority leader under Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher. While he won re-election in 2010,he did not seek a leadership position in the new Republican-controlled legislature. Shortly thereafter,he resigned his seat effective January 13,2011,to accept Governor Mark Dayton's appointed to head the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board. [3] [4]
Sertich is a graduate of Hamline University in Saint Paul,where he received a B.A. in Theatre Arts and Political Science. After graduation,he worked for State Senator Jerry Janezich,who also represented the Iron Range. [2] When Janezich ran for the United States Senate in 2000,then-Representative David Tomassoni ran for the Minnesota Senate,opening up the seat to which Sertich was elected. [3]
Thomas Rukavina was an American politician and a Democratic–Farmer–Labor (DFL) member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1987 to 2013. In 2010 he was an unsuccessful candidate for Governor of Minnesota,seeking the DFL nomination. He was a St. Louis County commissioner from 2015 to 2018.
Margaret Anderson Kelliher is an American politician,Director of the Minneapolis Department of Public Works,former Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Transportation,and a former member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party,she represented District 60A,which includes portions of the city of Minneapolis in Hennepin County,located in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. First elected in 1999,she served until 2011,also serving as the Speaker from 2007 to 2011. She is the second woman to hold the position of House speaker. She was an unsuccessful candidate for the DFL nomination for Governor of Minnesota in the 2010 gubernatorial election,losing to former Senator Mark Dayton. Anderson left the Minnesota House of Representatives at the conclusion of her term in 2011 and re-entered politics when she ran for the DFL nomination to the U.S. House of Representatives in Minnesota's 5th congressional district in 2018,losing to Ilhan Omar. Since 2019 Kelliher,has worked in transportation management roles for the government,first as Commissioner of MnDOT,and later as Director of Public Works for the city of Minneapolis.
David Joseph Tomassoni was an American politician who served in the Minnesota Legislature from 1993 to 2022. A former member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL),Tomassoni left the party to become independent in November 2020 and joined the Minnesota Senate Republican Caucus.
Yvonne Prettner Solon is an American politician who served as the 47th lieutenant governor of Minnesota,from 2011 to 2015. She is the sixth consecutive woman to serve in that capacity and is a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party. She served with Governor Mark Dayton,who successfully ran for reelection,while she chose to retire at the end of her term.

In February 2018,Melin became executive director of the Minnesota State Building and Construction Trades Council,a labor group representing 70,000 union members. On January 31,2019,Attorney General Keith Ellison appointed Melin as government affairs director for his office.
