The 16th Toronto Film Critics Association Awards, honoring the best in film for 2012, were given on December 18, 2012. [4] [5] [6]

Through a naming rights sponsorship with Rogers the Best Canadian Film Award prize money was raised to C$100,000 from $15,000 in 2010 and $10,000 prior to that, while the two runners-up took $5,000 each. It is now the largest film prize in Canada. [7] [8]

<i>Amour</i> (2012 film) 2012 film by Michael Haneke

Amour is a 2012 French-language romantic tragedy film written and directed by the Austrian filmmaker Michael Haneke, starring Jean-Louis Trintignant, Emmanuelle Riva and Isabelle Huppert. The narrative focuses on an elderly couple, Anne and Georges, who are retired music teachers with a daughter who lives abroad. Anne suffers a stroke that paralyses the right side of her body. The film is a co-production among the French, German, and Austrian companies Les Films du Losange, X-Filme Creative Pool, and Wega Film.
