On 30 January 1995, TransAsia Airways Flight 510A crashed in Taiwan's Guishan District during a ferry flight. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
The aircraft involved in the accident was an ATR 72-200. Registered B-22717 with serial number 435, it was manufactured on 16 November the previous year and had since accumulated 265 hours and 47 minutes of flight time. [1] : 3 It was equipped with two Pratt & Whitney PW124B turboprops, both had flown for nearly 275 hours. [1] : 4
The captain, 54-year-old Wang Hongjia, was the pilot monitoring. He had clocked over 17,000 hours of flight time with almost 2,000 hours on the ATR 72. [1] : 2 The first officer, 58-year-old Li Guangzhi, was the pilot flying. He had accumulated a total flying experience of nearly 6,900 hours, of which more than 4,400 hours were on the make and model. [1] : 3 Two flight attendants, 26-year-old Lau Wai-hing and 25-year-old Lin Ziya, were also on-board the flight. [1] : 3
The aircraft, an ATR 72-200, had just dropped off passengers in Penghu for the Lunar New Year and was being ferried back to Taipei. During approach the aircraft deviated from its assigned course and crashed into a hill, killing all four crew members on board. [6] [7] [8]
The investigation revealed that the flight crew failed to maintain situational awareness and did not cross check their navigation aids. [9] [10]

China Airlines Flight 676 was a scheduled international passenger flight. On Monday, 16 February 1998, the Airbus A300 jet airliner operating the flight crashed into a road and residential area in Tayuan, Taoyuan County, near Chiang Kai-shek International Airport, Taiwan.
TransAsia Airways was a Taiwanese airline based in Neihu District in Taipei. Though the company started its operations focusing mainly on the Taiwanese domestic market, it operated on many scheduled international routes and focused mainly on Southeast and Northeast Asia and cross-strait flights at the time of closure.
UNI Airways is a Taiwanese regional airline based in Zhongshan, Taipei, Taiwan. With an operation focus on domestic routes, UNI Air is a subsidiary of Evergreen Group, making it a sister airline of the mainline operator EVA Air. It was known as Makung Airlines (馬公航空) until 1996, when EVA Air took a majority share of the airline. In 1998, the airline merged with Great China Airlines (大華航空) and Taiwan Airways (臺灣航空), which EVA Air also had interests in, to form UNI Airways.
American Eagle Flight 4184, officially operating as Simmons Airlines Flight 4184, was a scheduled domestic passenger flight from Indianapolis, Indiana, to Chicago, Illinois, United States. On October 31, 1994, the ATR 72 performing this route flew into severe icing conditions, lost control and crashed into a field, killing all 68 people on board in the high-speed impact.
Chiayi Airport, commonly known as Shueishang Airport, is an airport in Shuishang Township, Chiayi County, Taiwan. China Airlines Flight 120 was a regularly scheduled flight from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport in Taoyuan County, Taiwan to Naha Airport in Okinawa, Japan. On 20 August 2007 the Boeing 737-809 (WL) aircraft operating the flight caught fire and exploded after landing and taxiing to the gate area at Naha Airport. Four people—three from the aircraft and one ground crew—sustained injuries in the accident. The fire had been caused by a loose bolt puncturing a fuel tank. The aircraft was written off.
South African Airlink Flight 8911 was a positioning flight from Durban International Airport to Pietermaritzburg Airport, South Africa, that crashed into the grounds of Merebank Secondary School, Durban shortly after take-off on 24 September 2009, injuring the three occupants of the aircraft and one on the ground. The captain of the flight subsequently died of his injuries on 7 October 2009.
Henan Airlines Flight 8387 was a domestic flight operated by Henan Airlines from Harbin to Yichun, China. On the night of 24 August 2010, the Embraer E190 operating the route crashed on approach to Yichun Lindu Airport in fog. 44 of the 96 people on board were killed. It was the first hull loss and the first fatal accident involving the Embraer E190 and as of 2024, the deadliest.
UTair Flight 120 was a scheduled domestic passenger flight from Tyumen to Surgut, Russia. On 2 April 2012, the ATR-72 turboprop aircraft operating the flight crashed shortly after take-off from Roschino International Airport, killing 33 of the 43 people on board. Investigation carried out by the Russian Interstate Aviation Committee (MAK) revealed that the aircraft had not been de-iced prior to its take-off, even though it had been parked for hours in snowy condition. The crew of the flight were aware that ice and snow had accumulated on the aircraft, but decided not to de-ice it.

TransAsia Airways Flight 222 was a scheduled domestic passenger flight operated by TransAsia Airways from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, to Magong, Penghu Island. On 23 July 2014, the ATR 72-500 twin turboprop operating the route crashed into buildings during approach to land in bad weather at Magong Airport. Among the 58 people on board, only 10 survived.
TransAsia Airways Flight 235 was a domestic flight from Taipei to Kinmen, Taiwan. On 4 February 2015, the aircraft serving the flight, a 10-month-old ATR 72-600, crashed into the Keelung River around 5 km from Taipei Songshan Airport, where the aircraft had just departed from. On board were 58 people, 15 of whom survived with injuries.
TransAsia Airways Flight 791 was a regular cargo flight between Chiang Kai Shek International Airport and Macau International Airport. At 01:52 am local time on 21 December 2002, the ATR 72 operating the flight crashed into the sea 17 kilometres southwest of Magong, Penghu, Taiwan. The two crew members on board were killed.
Civil Air Transport Flight 10 was a passenger flight from the now-closed Kai Tak Airport in Hong Kong to Songshan Airport in Taipei, Taiwan. The flight CT-010 was operated by a Boeing 727-92C with registration B-1018. On 16 February 1968, the aircraft crashed into Hunan village in Linkou Township, Taipei County, killing 21 people on board as well as one person on the ground. 42 people were injured.
