Trip9love (stylised as trip9love...???) is the third studio album by English singer-songwriter Tirzah. It was surprise-released digitally on 5 September 2023, and released physically on 17 November, by Domino Recording Company. The album was produced by Mica Levi.
The album was written and recorded in Tirzah's and Levi's home studios, as well as in southeast London and Kent, [1] over about a year's time. [2]
Trip9love was surprise-released digitally on 5 September 2023 without any prior singles. [3] [1] Tirzah had said she would be "sharing the record next week" on 29 August. [4] Along with the digital release, a physical release by Domino Recording Company was announced to follow on 17 November. [1] The album tease in August came with the announcement of tour dates in Europe and North America, [4] but the North American leg was cancelled after Tirzah contracted pneumonia. [5]
The central instruments of the album are the piano and drum machine. [6] [7] Most songs on the album are built on the same drum beat, with different mixing and distortion applied to each to differentiate them, while a few are drumless ballads. [6] [8] The piano's tone is also very consistent track to track. [6] The two instruments contrast with each other, with Pitchfork 's Philip Sherburne calling the piano "distant and mournful" and the drums "confrontational, in your face, charged with latent violence." [6]

According to the review aggregator Metacritic , Trip9love received "universal acclaim" based on a weighted average score of 85 out of 100 from 6 critic scores. [9] Sherburne called the album "tender as a bruise, the kind of bruise you press down on now and again, just to confirm that it still hurts—and to take secret pleasure in the ache." [6] Clash 's Ana Lamond wrote that "it is within the intricacies of Tirzah and Levi's union that the record truly gleams." [7] Resident Advisor 's Kiana Mickles wrote that "The effect of a wrong note pressed, a one-take vocal run or a perfectly misplaced guitar screech might seem inconsequential because, at this point, it's so indisputably Tirzah. But real care goes into her rule-breaking, which is what makes it sound so immaculate." [14] Bandcamp Daily 's Diamond Sharp wrote that Tirzah's "delicate vocals pair well over the warbled 808s and distorted beats", and called the album "raw and ever-changing." [15]
Critics emphasised the need for multiple listens to fully grasp the album. [7] [8] Sherburne said it took him "a dozen or more listens" to notice the repeated drum pattern. [6]

The Streets is an English musical project led by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Mike Skinner. The project was founded in the early 90s, while Skinner was still a teenager; however, no music would formally eventuate until the early 2000s. In the initial run of The Streets, the project released five studio albums: Original Pirate Material (2002), A Grand Don't Come for Free (2004), The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living (2006), Everything Is Borrowed (2008) and Computers and Blues (2011). The Streets also released a string of successful singles during this time, which reached the Top 40 on the UK Singles chart – including "Has It Come to This?", "Fit but You Know It", "Dry Your Eyes", "When You Wasn't Famous" and "Prangin' Out". After disbanding The Streets in 2011, Skinner pursued several other musical projects before ultimately reviving the moniker in 2017. A mixtape, None of Us Are Getting Out of This Life Alive, was released in 2020. The Streets' sixth studio album, The Darker the Shadow the Brighter the Light, was released in September 2023.
Micaela Rachel Levi, known professionally as Mica Levi or by their stage name Micachu, is an English musician, composer, producer, singer and song-writer.
Terje Olsen, known professionally as Todd Terje, is a Norwegian DJ, songwriter, and record producer. His stage name is a homage to house music producer Todd Terry.
Faith in Strangers is the third studio album by English electronic musician Andy Stott. It was released on 18 November 2014 by Modern Love. The album received critical acclaim, and the title track "Faith in Strangers" was given Best New Track and placed at number 81 on Pitchfork's list of the 100 best tracks of 2014. As with Stott's previous album Luxury Problems, Faith in Strangers also incorporates vocals from his former piano teacher, Alison Skidmore.
Garden of Delete is the seventh studio album by American electronic musician Oneohtrix Point Never, released on November 13, 2015 on Warp Records. Elaenia is the debut studio album by British electronic musician Sam Shepherd, released under his alias Floating Points on 6 November 2015 by Shepherd's own Pluto label and Luaka Bop. Shepherd created the artwork for the album by connecting fibre-optic cables to a home made harmonograph. Shepherd had originally conceived the album to contain only one track but was advised against the idea and eventually cut the music into seven songs. Elaenia's title track was named when Shepherd experienced a dream about a bird that became engulfed in a forest after he had been reading the speculative fiction novel Sum: Forty Tales from the Afterlives by American neuroscientist David Eagleman.
Entrañas (transl. Entrails) is the third mixtape by Venezuelan electronic music producer Arca. It was released for free download on 4 July 2016 through Arca's SoundCloud page and MediaFire. It features contributions from Total Freedom, Massacooraman and Mica Levi, who is also known as Micachu. Even though 14 tracks are listed, the entire mixtape is in sequence as a single track.

"Send Me" is a song by British musician Tirzah. It was produced by Mica Levi aka Micachu. The single was released on 14 April 2021. "Send Me" was described as a song being about "recovery, gratitude and new beginnings, presenting a singer having discovered the type of love that is shared between a mother and a child for the first time whilst simultaneously working as an artist."
Fatigue is the second record by Brooklyn-based experimental musician Taja Cheek, under the moniker of L'Rain. It is her first recording with record label Mexican Summer. Fatigue builds on Cheek's experimental compositional approach, drawing from an eclectic collection of genres and employing field recording elements. Instrumentally, it has help from twenty collaborators, who lend the record clavinet, saxophone, and more.
Black Metal 2 is an album by Dean Blunt, released on Rough Trade Records on 11 June 2021. The album was only formally announced on 8 June 2021, following pictures being posted to the social media accounts of collaborators Vegyn and James Massiah depicting a billboard with the album cover; however, references had been made to it by Blunt prior to this, as far back as 2016, including in the description of various releases on SoundCloud. It serves as a sequel to his 2014 album Black Metal and features an edited version of that cover as its album cover. The album features additional vocals from Joanne Robertson on six songs.
PTP, also known as Purple Tape Pedigree, is an American artist collective and independent record label based in New York City. PTP has been called "New York’s experimental incubator", and the collective has released recordings named among the best in new experimental, hip hop, metal, avant-garde, and electronic music. Pitchfork noted that "PTP's mission seems to be to annihilate genre boundaries and revel in the brilliant debris", and VICE has called PTP "home to some of the most boundary pushing music being made".
Colourgrade is the second studio album by British musician Tirzah. It was released through Domino on 1 October 2021.
Raven is the second studio album by American singer and songwriter Kelela. It was released on February 10, 2023, via Warp Records. It comes six years after the release of Kelela's debut album Take Me Apart, which was lauded by critics as one of the best albums of 2017. A remix album titled "Rave:N, the Remixes" was released on February 9, 2024. In a press release, Kelela said Raven began as a reaction to feeling alone as a Black femme working within dance music, and describes the album as an affirmation of that perspective. Raven was supported by the singles "Washed Away", "Happy Ending", "On the Run", "Contact", and "Enough for Love".
Coby Sey is a British musician, songwriter, artist, vocalist and NTS Radio host, born and based in Lewisham, South East London. He has worked with musicians Tirzah, Mica Levi, DELS, Kwes, Laurel Halo, Klein, Lafawndah and London Contemporary Orchestra, artists Hannah Perry and Maëva Berthelot and has remixed Kelly Lee Owens, Max de Wardener and Leifur James. In 2019 he had a featured session on BBC Radio 3 Late Junction in an improvised collaboration with PAN affiliated artist Pan Daijing. Sey is also a founder and member of a loose collective named Curl. Sey released his debut album, Conduit on 9 September 2022 on AD 93 to critical acclaim.

Further Out Than the Edge is the debut studio album by South London jazz band Speakers Corner Quartet, released on June 2, 2023, by OTIH Records.
