The sapodilla seed borer, (Trymalitis margarias) is a species of moth of the family Tortricidae. It is found in Sri Lanka. This species has a wingspan of 17-20mm. [2]
It is a highly invasive species that attacks sapodilla species very often. The attack symptoms are only visible after days of infestation of larva. Larvae emerge from the seeds. Damaged fruits are frequented by small black ants. [3]

An example natural occurrence is in coastal Yucatán in the Petenes mangroves ecoregion, where it is a subdominant plant species. It was introduced to the Philippines during Spanish colonization. It is grown in large quantities in Mexico and in tropical Asia including India, Pakistan, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Bangladesh.
