The Tulsa Threat are one of two current women's tackle football teams in the state of Oklahoma. They began play during the 2011 season as the Tulsa Eagles. They are a member of the Women's Football Alliance, a nationally ranked 41-team women's football league that plays 11-on-11, NCAA rules football during the spring. Based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the Threat plays in Tulsa at LaFortune Stadium on the campus of Memorial High School. In 2012, they produced 4 All-Americans and 5 All-Americans in 2013.

The Bedlam Series is the name given to the Oklahoma–Oklahoma State rivalry. It refers to the athletics rivalry between Oklahoma State University Cowboys and Cowgirls and the University of Oklahoma Sooners of the Big 12 Conference. Both schools were also members of the Big Eight Conference before the formation of the Big 12 Conference in 1996, and both were divisional rivals in the Big 12 South Division prior to 2011. The rivalry will conclude in 2025, when Oklahoma officially joins the SEC. But 40 years of the rivalry's games were played without the teams playing in the same conference. So,the rivalry could continue if the schools were committed to it.

Glenn Dobbs Jr. was a professional American football player in the All-America Football Conference (AAFC). A skilled running back, quarterback, and punter, Dobbs was named the AAFC's MVP in 1946. After sitting out the 1950 season with a knee injury, Dobbs was persuaded to come out of retirement to play with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Western Interprovincial Football Union (WIFU), forerunner of the Canadian Football League (CFL). In 1951 Dobbs was named the Most Valuable Player of the WIFU. Dobbs played college football at the University of Tulsa, where he was later head football coach from 1961 to 1968 and athletic director from 1955 to 1970. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a player in 1980.

Rocky Ayres Calmus is an American former college and professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for three seasons during the early 2000s. He played college football for the University of Oklahoma, earned consensus All-American honors twice, and was recognized as the nation's top college linebacker. The Golden Hurricane are the athletic teams that represent the University of Tulsa. These teams are referred to as the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Before adopting the name Golden Hurricane in 1922, the University of Tulsa (TU) had many unofficial team nicknames including Kendallites, Presbyterians, Tulsans, Tigers, Orange and Black, and Yellow Jackets. The name "Golden Tornadoes" was chosen by TU football coach H.M. Archer (1922–24) based on new gold and black uniforms and a remark made during practice of the team "roaring through opponents". However, it was quickly discovered that the same name had been chosen in 1917 by Georgia Tech. Archer then substituted the term "hurricane" for "tornado" and a team vote prior to leaving for the game against Texas A&M confirmed the official nickname as "Golden Hurricane".

The 1915 Oklahoma Sooners football team was an American football team that represented the University of Oklahoma in the Southwest Conference during the 1915 college football season. In their 11th year under head coach Bennie Owen, the Sooners compiled a 10–0 record, won the Southwest Conference championship, and outscored their opponents by a combined total of 370 to 54. This was the first season that the Sooners participated in the Southwest Conference.

Homer Paine was an American football tackle. He played college football at the University of Tulsa for one season and at the University of Oklahoma for three seasons. Paine was named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference first team while at Tulsa, and he was twice named to all-conference first teams while at Oklahoma. After college, Paine played professional football for one season with the Chicago Hornets of the All-America Football Conference. He was selected in the 14th round of the 1946 NFL Draft.

The Great American Conference (GAC) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level, with headquarters located in Russellville, Arkansas. Athletic competition began play during the 2011–12 school year. Its twelve all-sports member schools are located in Arkansas and Oklahoma in the South Central United States. In addition, the conference has four affiliate members in men's soccer, two of which are in Kansas.

Bill Blankenship is an American football coach and former player. He was the head coach of the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane from 2011 through 2014. Before entering the college ranks, Blankenship was a successful high school coach for over 20 years and was named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2009.

Anthony Phillips is an American athlete and businessman who played football at the University of Oklahoma from 1984 until 1988. Twice an All-America pick at offensive guard, he was drafted after his senior year by the NFL's Chicago Bears, but Phillips opted to forgo professional football. Phillips chose a business career instead, and is vice president at Bank of Oklahoma.

Courtney Ozioma Dike is an American footballer who plays as a forward. She was eligible to play for the Nigeria women's national football team through her parents and Nigerian heritage.

The 1912 Kendall Orange and Black football team represented Henry Kendall College during the 1912 college football season. In its first and only season under head coach Harvey Allen, the team compiled a 1–4 record and was outscored by its opponents by a combined total of 141 to 75.

The 2021 Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team represented the University of Tulsa as a member of the American Athletic Conference during the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Led by seventh-year head coach Philip Montgomery, the Golden Hurricane compiled an overall record of 7–6 with a mark of 5–3 in conference play, placing in a three-way tie for third in the American. Tulsa was invited to the Myrtle Beach Bowl, where they beat Old Dominion. The team played home games at Skelly Field at H. A. Chapman Stadium in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Malcolm Luciano Rodriguez is an American football linebacker for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Oklahoma State.
