Turkey competed at the 2016 European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam, Netherlands, between 6 and 10 July 2016. [1]
Turkey participated at the championship with 55 athletes winning a total of twelve medals (four gold, five silver and three bronze). One of the bronze medals was awarded to the team in half marathon.

Among all sportin Turkey, the most popular one is football. Turkey's top teams include Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray and Beşiktaş. In 2000, Galatasaray won the UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup. Two years later, the Turkish national team finished third in the 2002 FIFA World Cup Finals in Japan and South Korea, while in 2008, the national team reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Euro 2008 competition. The Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul hosted the 2005 UEFA Champions League Final, while the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium in Istanbul hosted the 2009 UEFA Cup Final.
Naz Aydemir Akyol is a Turkish volleyball player, widely regarded as one of the best setters in international volleyball. She plays as setter for Fenerbahçe and the Turkey women's national volleyball team. She has won a total of nine Turkish League championships, four with Vakıfbank, three with Eczacıbaşı and two with Fenerbahçe. She has four CEV Champions League championships, winning three with Vakıfbank and one with Fenerbahçe. She also has three FIVB Club World Championship, winning two with Vakıfbank and one with Fenerbahçe. She participated at the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2020 Summer Olympics.
Maja Ognjenović is a Serbian volleyball player and the captain of the Serbia women's national volleyball team. With the national team, she won the gold medal at the 2011 European Championship, silver medal at the 2007 European Championship, bronze medal at the 2006 World Championship. She won the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. In 2018, she has won the gold medal at the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship. During the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she has won the bronze medal.
The Turkey women's national volleyball team is formed by the Turkish Volleyball Federation (TVF) and represents Turkey in international CEV and FIVB organizations.
Christiane Fürst is a retired German female volleyball player. She plays for Turkish side Eczacıbaşı VitrA.
Harika Dronavalli is an Indian chess player who holds the FIDE title of Grandmaster (GM). She has won three bronze medals in the Women's World Chess Championship, in 2012, 2015 and 2017. Dronavalli was honored with the Arjuna Award for the year 2007–08 by the government of India. In 2016, she won the FIDE Women's Grand Prix event at Chengdu, China and rose up from world no. 11 to world no. 5 in FIDE women's ranking. Vladimir Kramnik, Judit Polgar and Viswanathan Anand are her chess inspirations. In 2019, she was awarded the Padma Shri for her contributions towards the field of sports.
Eda Erdem Dündar is a Turkish professional volleyball player. She currently plays for both Fenerbahçe SK and the national team and is the captain of both teams.
Meryem Boz is a Turkish volleyball player. She is 194 cm and plays as an opposite. She was chosen MVP of the CEV Tokyo Volleyball European Qualification 2020.
The Turkey national under-20 basketball team is the national representative for Turkey in men's international under-20 basketball tournaments. They are formed and run by the Turkish Basketball Federation. The team competes at the FIBA U20 European Championship.
The Turkey national under-18 and under-19 basketball team is the national representative for Turkey in men's international under-18 and under-19 basketball tournaments. They are formed and run by the Turkish Basketball Federation. The team competes at the FIBA U18 European Championship, with the opportunity to qualify for the FIBA Under-19 World Cup.
Milena Rašić is a retired Serbian professional volleyball player. She played for Serbia women's national volleyball team. She won a silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and also competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She won a bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She is 1.93 m tall.

Hande Baladın is a Turkish volleyball player. She is 190 cm and 80 kg (180 lb). She started playing volleyball as middle blocker in the youth and junior teams of Eczacıbaşı Dynavit in Istanbul. Since 2014, she plays as opposite spiker. Baladın is a member of the women's national volleyball team, and wears number 7.
Zhu Ting is a Chinese volleyball player. She is an outside hitter of the Chinese women's volleyball national team. She played for Vakıfbank Istanbul from 2016 to 2019. Currently, she plays for Italian club Savino del Bene Scandicci.
