The Netherlands competed at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics from 15–23 August. A team of 15 athletes was announced in preparation for the competition. Selected athletes have achieved one of the competition's qualifying standards. The team included 2006 European champion Bram Som and two-time European Indoor medallist Gregory Sedoc.
Netherlands competed at the 2014 European Athletics Championships in Zürich, Switzerland, from 12–17 August 2014. A delegation of 43 athletes were sent to represent the country.
Great Britain competed at the 2016 European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam, Netherlands, from 6–10 July 2016. British Athletics named a team of 98 athletes on 27 June 2016. On 4 July 2016 British Athletics confirmed that Adam Gemili would stand down from the 100m, and concentrate on the relay; his place was taken by reserve Ojie Edoburun. William Sharman also withdrew, his place taken by David King.
