Haiti competed at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The country's delegation consisted of two track and field athletes, V.A. Theard and Silvio Cator. Cator took second place in the long jump, winning Haiti's first silver medal and the second medal for Haiti of any type.

New Zealand competed at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, Netherlands with a team of four athletes, four swimmers and two boxers. Seven men and three women represented their country, accompanied by four others. The athletes were led by Arthur Porritt, who was the only New Zealand competitor who had attended the previous Summer Olympics in 1924; Porritt would four decades later become New Zealand's 11th Governor-General. The team won one medal; boxer Ted Morgan won gold in the men's welterweight. Excluding Malcolm Champion's gold as part of a combined Australasia team in 1912, this was New Zealand's first Olympic gold medal.

Lithuania competed at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, Netherlands. After the disappointing debut in the 1924 Summer Olympics, Lithuania was better prepared for the games in Amsterdam. In 1926 it organized the first national Olympics. Lithuania sent 12 athletes to compete in 4 sports: athletics, boxing, cycling, and weightlifting. The best result was achieved by boxer Juozas Vinča, who shared 5th–8th places. Lithuania did not appear in the Olympics again until after the restoration of independence in 1992.

Northern Ireland competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, Australia from April 4 to April 15, 2018. On January 3, 2017 Northern Ireland announced its decision to send a squad of 88 athletes to the games. A final team of 90 competed.
Cycling at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was held at the Currumbin Beachfront (road), Nerang National Park, both of which are located in the Gold Coast and Anna Meares Velodrome from 5 to 14 April.
