Tuula Tenkanen (born 11 August 1990 in Espoo) is a Finnish sailor, who specialized in one-person dinghy (Laser Radial) class. [1] [2] She represented her nation Finland at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and at the 2020 Summer Olympics. [3]
She trained at Espoo Sailing Club (Finnish : Esbo Segelförening) throughout most of her sporting career under her longtime coach and mentor Minna Aalto. [4] As of September 2014, Tenkanen was ranked sixth in the world for the one-person dinghy class by the International Sailing Federation, following her successes at the European and ISAF World Championships. Tenkanen qualified for the Finnish squad in the newly introduced Laser Radial class at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing by placing twelfth and receiving a berth from the ISAF World Championships in Auckland, New Zealand. [7] [8] She posted a net score of 128 points to achieve a creditable twenty-second position in a fleet of twenty-eight sailors, edging out Belarus' Tatiana Drozdovskaya by a mere, thirteen-point gap on the tenth leg. Tenkanen sought to compete for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, but lost the slot to her sailing rival Sari Multala, who later finished seventh in the same class. Two years later, at the 2014 ISAF Sailing World Championships in Santander, Spain, Tenkanen delivered her best career record with a fourth-place finish in the Laser Radial class to secure a spot on the Finnish sailing team for her second Olympic bid in Rio de Janeiro. She competed at the 2018 ISAF Sailing World Championships, and qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics. [12]
The Laser is a class of single-handed, one-design sailing dinghies using a common hull design with three interchangeable rigs of different sail areas, appropriate to a given combination of wind strength and crew weight. Ian Bruce and Bruce Kirby designed the Laser in 1970 with an emphasis on simplicity and performance.
The Laser Radial or ILCA 6 is a popular one-design class of small sailing dinghy, originally built by Laser Performance. It is a singlehanded boat, meaning that it is sailed by one person. The Laser Radial is a variant of the Laser Standard, with shorter mast and reduced sail area, allowing light sailors to sail in heavy winds. It raced by women, U18 men and by male masters. The International Class is recognised by World Sailing.

As of September 2013, Lindgren is ranked no. 304 in the world for two-person dinghy class by the International Sailing Federation.

Collura trained under the tutelage of his personal coach Alp Alpagut, while sailing separately for two different clubs at his parents' homebases, namely Lahden Purjehdusseura in Lahti and Circolo Vela Torbole in Torbole, Italy.
Anastasiya Igorevna Chernova is a Russian former sailor, who specialized in the Laser Radial class. A two-time national champion, she represented her country Russia at the 2008 Summer Olympics, finishing outside the top 25 in her signature fleet. Serving as a member of the sailing roster at ShVSM Samara, Chernova trained throughout her competitive sporting career under the tutelage of her father Igor Maletin. Currently, she is the head coach of the country's youth sailing squad.
Katarzyna Szotyńska, also known as Katarzyna Deberny, is a Polish former sailor who specialized in the Laser Radial class. She represented her country Poland at the 2008 Summer Olympics and came closest to the medal haul in the final race of her signature fleet, finishing in ninth place. Outside her Olympic career, Szotyńska collected a total of five gold medals in a major international regatta, spanning four editions of the World Championships and the 2005 Summer Universiade in İzmir, Turkey. A senior member of the sailing roster at the University of Warsaw's sport academy, Szotyńska trained most of her competitive sporting career under the tutelage of her personal coach and brother Bartłomiej.
Eftychia "Efi" Mantzaraki is a Greek former sailor, who specialized in the Yngling and Laser Radial classes. She represented the host nation Greece in the three-woman keelboat at the 2004 Summer Olympics, before switching to a single-handed boat on her second trip to Beijing 2008. Mantzaraki trained full-time under her personal coach Christos Chionas, while sailing competitively for Katoikon Vouliagmeni.
