Religious affiliation was 51.5% Roman Catholic, 0.4% Calvinist, 6.3% Lutheran, 1.3% other and 23.8% unaffiliated, with 16.7% declining to answer.
The village had a significant ethnic minority Roma population of 21.8%. There were also small numbers of Germans (1.7%) and Poles (0.4%). The vast majority declared themselves as Hungarian (95.4%), with 4.6% declining to answer. [note 1] [3]
The village is governed by a mayor with a four-person council. The local government of the village operates a joint council office with the nearby localities of Ág, Gerényes, Kisvaszar, Tarrós and Vásárosdombó. The seat of the joint council is in Vásárosdombó. [2] [3]
As of the election of 2019, the village also has a local minority self-government for its Roma community, with three elected representatives. [6]
Abaliget is a village in central Baranya County, Pécs District, in southern Hungary. Until the end of World War II, the majority of the Inhabitants was Danube Swabians, also called locally as Stifolder, because there Ancestors once came at the 17th century and 18th century from Fulda (district). Mostly of the former German Settlers was expelled to Allied-occupied Germany and Allied-occupied Austria in 1945–1948, about the Potsdam Agreement. Only a few Germans of Hungary live there, the majority today are the descendants of Hungarians from the Czechoslovak–Hungarian population exchange. They got the houses of the former Danube Swabians Inhabitants. It is located in the western Mecsek Mountains. The nearby Abaliget Cave and the area's lakes and hiking trails make it a popular tourist destination. Its population at the 2011 Census was 598.
Bakonya is a village in central Baranya County, Pécs District, in southern Hungary. It is located in the western Mecsek mountain range and was the site of a uranium mine from the 1950s to 1989. Its population at the 2011 Census was 335.
