19USC Trojans men's volleyball is a collegiate volleyball team that represents the University of Southern California (USC). The team participates as a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), an athletic conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The program began in 1970 and first awarded schlorships during the 1976–77 season. The program has won the NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship four times, and placed second seven times. Home games are played at Galen Center on the USC campus in Los Angeles, California. [2]

Venues

The North Gym, located in the USC Physical Education Building, was the team's home court from 1970 until 1988. [3] From 1989 to 2006, the North Gym and the Lyon Center split time as the team's home court. [3] [4] In 2007, the team moved to the Galen Center as its home court, but uses the old venues if the Galen Center is reserved for other events. [3]

Beginning in 1969, it has been held every year except 2020, when it was postponed to March 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. With a limited number of NCAA water polo programs at the national level, all men's teams, whether from Division I, Division II, or Division III, are eligible to compete each year. The tournament was expanded from a four-team bracket in 2013 by adding two play-in games that are contested by the bottom four seeds, effectively creating a six-team bracket with a first-round bye for the top two teams.

Galen Center Multipurpose indoor arena in California

The Galen Center is a multipurpose indoor arena and athletic facility owned and operated by the University of Southern California. Located at the southeast corner of Jefferson Boulevard and Figueroa Street in the Exposition Park area of Los Angeles, California, United States, it is right across the street from the campus and near the Shrine Auditorium. The Galen Center is the home of the USC Trojans basketball and USC volleyball; in addition it hosts concerts, pageants, theatrical performances, high school graduation ceremonies, CIF championships and the Academic Decathlon. The annual Kids' Choice Awards were held here from 2011 to 2014, and returned in 2017 & 2019.

Referred to in athletic competition as California or Cal, the university fields 30 varsity athletic programs and various club teams in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)'s Division I primarily as a member of the Pac-12 Conference, and for a limited number of sports as a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF). Over the course of the school's history, California has won team national titles in 13 men's and 3 women's sports and 111 team titles overall. Cal athletes have also competed in the Olympics for a host of different countries. Notable facilities used by the Bears include California Memorial Stadium (football) and Haas Pavilion. Cal finished the 2010–11 athletic season with 1,219.50 points, earning third place in the Director's Cup standings, the Golden Bears' highest finish ever. Cal did not receive any points for its national championships in rugby and men's crew because those sports are not governed by the NCAA. Cal finished 12th in the 2014-15 standings.

The USC Trojans are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent the University of Southern California (USC), located in Los Angeles, California. While the men's teams are nicknamed the Trojans, the women's athletic teams are referred to as either the Trojans or Women of Troy. The program participates in the Pac-12 Conference and has won 131 team national championships, 108 of which are National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) national championships. USC Physical Education building

The Physical Education building is the University of Southern California's oldest on-campus athletic building. It is home to the 1,000-seat North Gym as well as the campus's first indoor swimming facilities.

The UC San Diego Tritons are the athletic teams that represent the University of California, San Diego. UC San Diego has 23 varsity sports teams and offers student participation in a wide range of sports. As of July 1, 2020, all UC San Diego teams participate at the NCAA Division I (DI) level in the Big West Conference. During their time in NCAA Division II and the California Collegiate Athletic Association starting in the 2000–01 season, UCSD placed in the top 5 in the Division II NACDA Directors' Cup standings nine times, including three 2nd-place finishes. NCSA Athletic Recruiting ranked the Tritons as the nation's top Division II program for eight consecutive years.

Long Beach State Beach

The Long Beach State, previously known as the 49ers, are the athletic teams that represent California State University, Long Beach. Teams compete in 19 sports at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level. Long Beach State is a founding member of the Big West Conference, and also competes in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and the Golden Coast Conference for sports not sponsored by the Big West.

The UC Irvine Anteaters men's volleyball team is the men's intercollegiate volleyball team at the University of California, Irvine. UC Irvine was a founding member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation in the 1992–93 season. Beginning with the 2017–18 season, UCI moved to the Big West Conference's inaugural men's volleyball league. Irvine has won the NCAA Men's National Collegiate Volleyball Championship four times, and appeared in the tournament an additional three.

The 2017–18 USC Trojans women's basketball team represents the University of Southern California during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Trojans, led by first year head coach, 6th overall Mark Trakh, play their home games at the Galen Center and were members of the Pac-12 Conference. They finished the season 20–11, 9–9 in Pac-12 play to finish in seventh place. They defeated Washington State in the first round before losing to Stanford in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Women's Basketball Tournament to Stanford. They would have clinched the automatic berth to the 2018 Women's National Invitation Tournament, but declined to participate, despite being the highest-ranked non-NCAA team in the Pac-12.

Merle Norman Stadium

Merle Norman Stadium is a beach volleyball facility located in Los Angeles, California, United States. The on-campus USC facility, built in 2013, serves as the home of the USC Trojans women's beach volleyball team. The facility has three sand courts where USC plays its home matches and holds practices.

Lyon Center

The Lyon Center or Lyon Recreation Center is a student recreational facility and part-time varsity athletics facility located on the campus of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. The Lyon Center's full name is the General William Lyon University Center and is named for William Lyon, a former General in the United States Army Air Corps and United States Air Force. The facility is adjacent to the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.

The 2018–19 USC Trojans women's basketball team represents the University of Southern California during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Trojans, led by second year head coach, 7th overall Mark Trakh, play their home games at the Galen Center and were members of the Pac-12 Conference. They finished the season 17–13, 7–11 in Pac-12 play to finish in a tie for eighth place. They lost in the first round of the Pac-12 Women's Basketball Tournament to Arizona.

The 2021–22 USC Trojans men's basketball team represented the University of Southern California during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Trojans are led by 9th-year head coach Andy Enfield and played their home games at the Galen Center for the 16th season in Los Angeles, California as members of the Pac-12 Conference. They finished the season 26–8, 14–6 in Pac-12 Play to finish in third place. As the No. 3 seed in the Pac-12 Tournament, they defeated Washington in the quarterfinals before losing in the semifinals to UCLA. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament as the No. 7 seed in the Midwest Region, where they lost in the First Round to Miami (FL).
