Ubauro is a town in Ghotki District in Northern Sindh province, Pakistan. [1]

Ubauro city was founded by Chief Sardar Fateh Ahmed Dahar. He was the Sardar of the Dahar tribe and the governor of Sindh during the Mughal era, overseeing the region from Sukkur to Ghotki. He was a descendant of Raja Dahir. Fateh Dahar’s great-grandfather reverted to Islam. Later, they developed the city of Daharki, which was also known as Khairpur. There are still many notable Dahars in Ubauro. The most famous one was Jam Muneer Ahmed Dahar, who passed away in 2011. After his death, his cousin Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar took power of the city as he was involved in politics and the government.

Geography

Ubauro is a great last town of Sindh Province on National Highway towards Punjab. Population of Sindhis, Saraykis, Punjabis and Muhajirs and all languages of these people spoken and understood. In the main town there is the famous and oldest Tomb dergah of Palan imam shah Bukhari. The source of income for the majority of population is agriculture and trading of its products. Ubauro was given the status of Tehsil (Taluqa) during the British Raj, and many buildings were constructed here for administration and revenue collection.

Ubauro has all four weathers including monsoon in July and August.

Before partition it was a small walled city with a majority Hindu population. The Hindus of Ubauro were well off and owned many lands and business not only in nearby areas but far-flung areas of the country, and they had political awareness during that era as well. There were many accessible gates to enter in the town and this town was constructed on some elevated place in order to protect it from floods of river Indus. This town is surrounded by lush green fertile lands, which grow many crops including the vegetable and fruits.

Before partition, this town was populated by Hindus, Chachars, Samas, Dahars, Dayas, Thaeems, Soomros, Supio etc.

After partition the demography of Ubauro was completely changed and with the migration of Hindus many other Sindhi and Balouch tribes settled in Ubaurao and Muhajirs and Punjabis migrated and settled in this town.

Ubauro is now the largest tehsil of District Ghotki by population.Chachar may be the largest caste in the area, occupying the areas of Kamushaheed, Rawanti, and Reti.

Other noteworthy tribes include Rind Baloch in area of Chokmari and Rawanti and Village Qaloo Khan Rind being the largest village of Rind community, Solangi is an other tribe residing the area of sindh-Punjab border of Machko, and many other communities including Seelro, Gurgej, Malik, Dahar, Sheikh, Dayo, Panhwar, Kosh, Dashti, Shar, Mahar etc

History

Ubauro was known to be inhabited by Rebel Baloch Tribals in 18th century, In April 1864, Pannu Khan with other rebels of Dashti and Shar Tribes attacked Kot Sabzal from Ubauro with total 600 mens, leading to 5 deaths and 6 injuries in British State Troops. Ubauro was listed (as Ubāora) in the Ain-i-Akbari as a pargana in sarkar Multan, counted as part of the Bīrūn-i Panjnad ("Beyond the Five Rivers"). [2] :13 It was assessed at 915,256 dams in revenue and supplied a force of 30 cavalry and 500 infantry. [3] :331 Based on references in the Mazhar-i Shahjajani and the Chahar Gulshan , it seems that the southern boundary of sarkar Multan was just to the south of Ubauro. [2] :13

Mastung, is a town in the Balochistan province and serves as headquarters of Mastung District. It sits at an altitude of 1,701 metres. and is also the administrative centre for Mastung Tehsil, a subdivision of the district. The town is further divided into two Union Councils. Mastung is part of Sarawan, which was a division of the former princely state of Kalat. The primary languages spoken by the people in Mastung are Brahui and Balochi.

Chachar or Chacher is a Sindhi Sammat agricultural tribe. They are found in the Sindh and Punjab provinces of Pakistan. They are considered fierce fighters.

Tando Bago is a town and union council in Badin District, Sindh, Pakistan. The Tehsil (township) of Tando Bago had a population of 321,818 in 2008. The Sindh government operates approximately 589 schools in Tando Bago.

The Multan Sultanate was a late medieval sultanate based in the Punjab region in the western Indian subcontinent between the 15th and 16th centuries. It was the dominant power of the lower Doab tract with Multan at its centre. Dahar or Daher is a Sindhi Sammat tribe, the Daharki city is named after this tribe. It is one of prominent tribes in Ghotki.
