Ululodes floridanus is a species of owlfly in the tribe Ululodini. [1] It is found in North America. [2]
The insect order Neuroptera, or net-winged insects, includes the lacewings, mantidflies, antlions, and their relatives. The order consists of some 6,000 species. Neuroptera is grouped together with the Megaloptera and Raphidioptera (snakeflies) in the unranked taxon Neuropterida.
Carpenter ants are large ants indigenous to many forested parts of the world.
Ascalaphidae is a family of insects in the order Neuroptera, commonly called owlflies; there are some 450 extant species. They are fast-flying crepuscular or diurnal predators of other flying insects, and have large bulging eyes and strongly knobbed antennae. The larvae are ambush predators; some of them make use of self-decoration camouflage.
Wagner's bonneted bat or Wagner's mastiff bat, is a species of bat in the family Molossidae. It is found in the Americas from Argentina and Peru north to Mexico, and Cuba. Populations in Florida in the United States are now recognized as the Florida bonneted bat
The Photurinae are a subfamily of fireflies (Lampyridae). They contain many of the well-known North American species, such as the Pennsylvania firefly, state insect of Pennsylvania. They are among the "flashing" fireflies known as "lightning bugs" in North America, although they are not too distantly related to the flashing fireflies in the Lampyrinae; as the most basal lineages of that subfamily do not produce light at all, the Photurinae's flashing signals seem to be convergent evolution.
Ascalaphinae is the type subfamily of the neuropteran owlfly family. Most species are found in the tropics. Their characteristic apomorphy, shared with the Ululodinae, is the ridge which divides each of their large compound eyes; both groups are thus sometimes known as split-eyed owlflies.
Palparini is an antlion tribe in the subfamily Palparinae.
Dimarini is an antlion tribe in the family Myrmeleontidae.
Cordulecerus is a genus of owlflies, neuropteran insects in the subfamily Ascalaphinae. Species are found in Central and South America.
Cordulecerus elegans is a species of owlflies, neuropteran insects in the family Ascalaphidae. It is found in South America.
Spilodiscus is a genus of clown beetles in the family Histeridae. There are about 9 described species in Spilodiscus.
Colopterus is a genus of sap-feeding beetles in the family Nitidulidae. There are about 10 described species in Colopterus.
Myrmex floridanus is a species of antlike weevil in the family Curculionidae. It is found in North America.
Ululodes is a genus of owlflies in the tribe Ululodini. There are 26 described species in Ululodes.
Artipus floridanus, the little leaf notcher, is a species of broad-nosed weevil in the beetle family Curculionidae. It is found in North America.
Akito Y. Kawahara is an American and Japanese entomologist, scientist, and advocate of nature education, and the son of the modern conceptual artist On Kawara.
Ululodes mexicanus is a species of owlfly in the tribe Ululodini. It is found in Central America.
Ululodes quadripunctatus, the four-spotted owlfly, is a species of owlfly in the tribe Ululodini. It is found in Central America and North America.
Ululodes arizonensis is a species of owlfly in the tribe Ululodini. It is found in Central America and North America.
Ululodes bicolor is a species of owlfly in the tribe Ululodini. It is found in Central America and North America.
