The Furman Paladins are the varsity athletic teams representing Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, in intercollegiate athletics.
Shannon Rowbury is an American middle-distance runner from San Francisco, California. She represented the United States at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Summer Olympics. She also represented the United States at the World Championships in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017 winning the bronze medal in the 1500 meters in 2009. On May 2, 2015 at the IAAF World Relays Rowbury was a member of the distance medley relay team that broke the world record. On March 12, 2016 Shannon Rowbury won Women 3000 meters in 8:55.65 at 2016 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships, and then went on to become World Indoor Bronze medalist at the IAAF World Indoor Championships behind Genzebe Dibaba and Meseret Defar in the same event. Rowbury was the former American record holder in the 1500 meters, breaking Mary Slaney's 32-year record on July 17, 2015, with a time of 3:56.29. Rowbury competed for Duke University and currently trains under Pete Julian.
Jennifer Simpson is an American middle distance runner and steeplechaser. She represented the United States at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2012 London Olympics and 2016 Rio Olympics. She is a former American record holder for the 3000 metres steeplechase. In the 1500 metres, she won a gold medal at the 2011 World Championships, a silver medal at the 2013 and 2017 World Championships, and a bronze medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
Amy Cragg is an American track and field athlete, specializing in long distance running events. She is the 2015 American champion in the Marathon, the 2012 American champion in the 10,000 meters, and a qualifier for the 2012 Summer Olympics.

The Carleton Knights are the varsity athletic teams of Carleton College, located in Northfield, Minnesota. They participate in NCAA Division III and in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). Carleton was a founding member of the MIAC in 1920, but left in 1925. Carleton was also a founding member of the Midwest Conference in 1921, where it competed exclusively from 1925 to 1983 before rejoining the MIAC.
Angela Bizzarri Pflugrath is a former American distance runner. She competed for the University of Illinois (2006–2010) and won three NCAA national championships in Cross Country, as well as NCAA Track national championships in the 5000 meters (outdoor) and 3000 meters (indoor). As an Illini she earned nine All-American honours and five Big Ten Conference titles. She also holds Illini records in the 1500 meters, 3000 meters, 5000 meters (outdoor), 5000 meters (indoor), the mile, and, in Cross Country, the 6000 meters.

Emma Coburn is an American middle-distance runner who specializes in the 3000 meter steeplechase. At the 2017 World Championships in London, Coburn won the 3000 metres steeplechase with a time of 9.02.58, breaking her own American record. This made her the first American woman to win a gold medal in the steeplechase at the World Championships. Previously, she set an American record of 9:07.63 in the 3000 meter steeplechase to win a bronze medal at the 2016 Olympic Games. This also made her the first American woman to win any Olympic medal in that event. Her other achievements in the event include earning a silver medal at the 2019 World Championships, reaching the 2012 Olympic final (8th), and the World Championship finals in 2011 (10th) and 2015 (5th). She also won the 2014 IAAF Continental Cup. She is an eight-time United States National Champion.

Schweizer is the current American collegiate record-holder for the indoor 3000-meter run with a time of 8:41.60. She has been labeled the most decorated athlete in University of Missouri history.
Allison "Allie" Ostrander is an American long-distance runner from Soldotna, Alaska. The repeat NCAA Division I steeplechase champion in 2017, 2018 and 2019, she competed for the Boise State University Broncos. In July 2019, Ostrander announced her plans to forgo her final season of NCAA eligibility and begin running professionally.
