The University of Florida Leadership and Education Foundation, Inc. (UFLEF, Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that serves as a Direct Support Organization for the University of Florida. Since its creation in 1992, [1] UFLEF, Inc. has been tasked to further the teaching, research and service missions of the University of Florida specifically as they pertain to agriculture, natural resources and related activities.

As such UFLEF, Inc. is administrated by the University of Florida, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) and follows the IFAS mission to develop knowledge in agriculture, human and natural resources, and to make that knowledge available to people to sustain and enhance their quality of life. UFLEF, Inc. is currently organized into two units; the Office of Conferences and Institutes and the Wedgworth Leadership Institute for Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences

The Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) is an agriculture, life science, pathogen, and invasive species research facility in Florida affiliated with University of Florida. It is a partnership between federal, state, and county governments that includes an extension office in each of Florida's 67 counties, 13 research and education centers, several demonstration sites, the University of Florida College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, the Center for Tropical Agriculture, portions of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, the Florida Sea Grant program, and the International Program for Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Office of Conferences and Institutes (OCI)

The Wedgworth Leadership Institute for Agriculture and Natural Resources develops and refines the leadership capabilities of leaders in Florida agriculture and natural resources. WLI educates and prepares young leaders to become increasingly involved with Florida policy formation. Each WLI class participates in a 22 month program which provides training on current agriculture and natural resources issues through professional seminars.

University of the Philippines Los Baños Limnological Research Station

The UPLB Limnological Research Station traces its root from the Department of Entomology, of the then UP College of Agriculture. Most of his research was conducted through experimental trials to understand ecosystem processes in terrestrial and tropical environments. The results of the research provided the ability to further comprehend forest structure and management, as well as its nutrient dynamics. The primary research conducted dealt with the beginning stages of the regrowth and recovery following agriculture practices. Ewel also participated in studies regarding invasive species and restoration ecology.
