The Fisher School of Accounting is the accounting school at the University of Florida.
In 1977, the School of Accounting was established by the Florida Board of Regents as a separate school within the Warrington College of Business, and was endowed in 1985 by Frederick Fisher. Dr. John Simmons was the founding Director of the Fisher School. The School first conferred degrees in accounting in December 1978 although accounting has existed as a program in some form since 1928.
According to the 2024 US News Rankings, The Fisher School of Accounting's undergraduate and graduate accounting programs were ranked 6th among public universities. [3] The School founded the Journal of Accounting Literature with Rashad Abdel-khalik [4] and is home to the International Accounting and Auditing Center. Fisher School of Accounting graduates' pass rate on the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam has been traditionally nearly twice as high as the national average. [5] In 2019, The Fisher School held an overall passing rate of 86.4% on all four parts of the CPA exam, ranking them 6th in the nation out of 264 institutions for overall passing rate. [6]
The undergraduate Fisher School of Accounting offers a traditional Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
The graduate school offers a Master of Accounting with concentrations in Auditing and Taxation for students seeking careers as Certified Public Accountants. The completion of the master's degree fulfills the State of Florida's requirements to take the CPA exam. [7] The school offers two combined-degree programs: one leads to the joint awarding of a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Accounting, [8] whereas the second partners with the Levin College of Law and offers a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree along with a Master of Accounting. [9]
Additionally, the Fisher School offers a Ph.D program in Accounting to prepare students for a career at academic research institutions. [10] Graduates typically place at a Research I university. The most recent placements include University of Arizona, Ohio State University, University of Illinois, University of Connecticut, Arizona State University, and The University of Kentucky, with international placements including The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hanyang University, and The University of Waterloo. The Fisher School of Accounting has approximately 449 undergraduate, 157 MAcc students, and 10 PhD students as of Fall 2023. [12]
The majority of undergraduate students graduating from The Fisher School choose to pursue a graduate accounting degree in lieu of working full-time. [13] The Master of Accounting program has boasted a near perfect employment record of 97.5% to 100% of its domestic students since the university began tracking employment outcomes in 2015, with over 80% of the graduating cohort accepting offers from Big Four accounting firms each year. [14] The most common places of employment are based in the South Florida region and the cities of Atlanta, New York City, Miami, Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville. [15]
Gary McGill [16] is the current and longest serving Director of the Fisher School of Accounting. Mr. John Laibson is the Director of Student Services. Fisher Eminent Scholar, Stephen Asare, Jenny Tucker, Marcus Kirk, Paul Madsen, Michael Mayberry, Lisa Hinson, Michael Ricci, Bobby Carnes, Ruby Lee, Scott Rane, Dan Rimkus, Gabriel Pereira Pundrich, Ivy Munoko, Jill Goslinga, Chris Falk, Sonia Singh, Cindy Dosch, Joost Impink, Michael Schadewald, Don Monk, and Paige Bressler. Emeritus faculty include John Simmons, Joel Demski, Doug Snowball, Rashad Abdel-Khalik, Jack Kramer, Sandra Kramer, Bipin Ajinkya, Chuck McDonald, Dominique DeSantiago, Debbie Garvin, and Jesse Boyles.
The Bachelor of Accountancy, also known as Bachelor of Accounting, is the principal academic degree in accountancy in several countries, and is often the only (undergraduate) degree recognised for subsequent practice as a professional accountant; see First professional degree. It is abbreviated as B.Acy., B.Acc., or B. Accty.. It is also sometimes titled Bachelor of Accounting Science (B.Acc.Sci.) or "Baccalaureus Computationis" (B.Compt.).
The Curtis L. Carlson School of Management is the business school of the University of Minnesota, a public research university in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota. The Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business is the graduate business school of Rice University, a private research university in Houston, Texas. Named in honor of Jesse Holman Jones, a Houston business and civic leader, the school received its initial funding in 1974 through a major gift from the Houston Endowment Inc., a philanthropic foundation established by Jones and his wife, Mary Gibbs Jones. The schools offers the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Accounting (MAcc), and Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) degrees, as well as an undergraduate business major. In addition, the school offers several joint degree programs, including the MD/MBA with Baylor College of Medicine, MBA/ME with Rice’s George R. Brown School of Engineering, and MBA/MS with Rice’s Wiess School of Natural Sciences. The school also provides an undergraduate business minor, executive education, and certificates.
The Warrington College of Business is the business school of the University of Florida. About 6,300 students are enrolled in classes, including undergraduates and graduate students, including Master of Business Administration and Ph.D.-seeking students. All programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
The Max M. Fisher College of Business is the business college of The Ohio State University, a public research university located in Columbus, Ohio. Fisher's campus is located on the northern part of the university within a partially enclosed business campus adjacent to St. John Arena. At the time of its construction, the six-building, 370,000 square-foot complex was the largest multi-building construction project ever undertaken by the university and it remains one of the few fully integrated management education campuses in the nation.
The School of Accounting and Finance (SAF) at University of Waterloo is a professional school within the Faculty of Arts. The School was established in 1980 under the name 'School of Accountancy'. Its name was changed in 2008 to better reflect its program offering. Today, more than 1,600 students are enrolled in the School's programs. In September 2009, a new 52,000 square feet (5,000 m2) building was officially opened to house the School.

The College of Business is the business school of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. It is a fully accredited business school that offers undergraduate degrees in accounting, computer information systems, business analytics, economics, finance and business law, international business, management, marketing, and quantitative finance. The University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine is the veterinary school of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. The college only enrolls professional program D.V.M. students and graduate students pursuing M.S. or Ph.D. degrees. No undergraduates are enrolled in the college.
