Vadim Laliev (born 12 December 1980) is a retired Ossetian Freestyle wrestler. He joined the Russian national wrestling team in 1999 and switched to the Armenian national wrestling team in 2006. [1] Laliev won a bronze medal at the European Wrestling Championships twice, in 2003 representing Russia and in 2006 representing Armenia. He is the younger brother of Olympic silver medalist Gennadiy Laliev. [2]

Soslan Petrovich Andiyev was a Soviet heavyweight freestyle wrestler. He was an Olympic champion in 1976 and 1980, world champion in 1973, 1975, 1977 and 1978, European champion in 1974, 1975 and 1982, and Soviet champion in 1973–78 and 1980. He won the World Cup in 1976 and 1981, but missed the 1984 Olympics due to their boycott by the Soviet Union and retired the same year. After that he first worked as a national wrestling coach, but in 1989 returned to his native Ossetia to become a sports functionary. In 1990–98, he served as vice-president of the Russian Olympic Committee. In 2006 he was inducted into the FILA Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Ibrahim Erikovych Aldatov is a Russian freestyle wrestler of Ossetian heritage who represents Ukraine. He won a gold medal in the 2006 FILA Wrestling World Championships and 2013 FILA Wrestling World Championships and won medals at three other World Championships. He participated at the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Presidential elections were held in South Ossetia on 13 November 2011. A referendum was held on the same day. A run-off was held on 27 November, but the result were invalidated by the Supreme Court of South Ossetia. A new election was scheduled for 25 March 2012.

Zaur Yurevich Makiev is a Russian freestyle wrestler of Ossetian heritage, international master of sports in freestyle wrestling, Junior World Champion. Russian nationals 2014 bronze medalist (74 kg). He participated in 2016 European Wrestling Championships. He was eliminated by Soner Demirtaş of Turkey in the 1/8 finals. In repechage he beat Grigor Grigoryan of Armenia by technical fall (10-0), came back and won the bronze medal, beat Andrzej Sokalski of Poland (11-0).
