Vali Gujarati Gazal Award is a literary honour in Gujarat, India. The award was instituted in 2005 by Vali Gujarati Gazal Kendra, run by Government of Gujarat, to perpetuate the memory of 17th century poet Vali Gujarati. The Award is conferred annually to the Gujarati ghazal poets. [2] [3]

Ashok Chavda Gujarati poet and writer (born 1978)

Ashok Chavda, also known by his pen name Bedil, is a Gujarati poet, writer and critic from Gujarat, India. His anthology of poetry, Dalkhi Thi Saav Chhutan (2012), was awarded the Yuva Puraskar by the Sahitya Akademi in 2013. His collection of known writings include Pagla Talaavma (2003), Pagarav Talaavma (2012), Tu Kahu Ke Tame (2012), Pityo Ashko (2012), Shabdoday (2012), and Ghazalistan (2012), which is a translation of Urdu ghazals written by Indian and Pakistani poets. He is also a recipient of the Yuva Gaurav Award (2012) from the Gujarat Sahitya Akademi, and the Dasi Jivan Award (2013–14) from the Government of Gujarat. He has appeared in several TV and radio programs on All India Radio and Doordarshan.

Ankit Trivedi

Ankit Trivedi is a Gujarati language poet, writer, columnist, and emcee from Gujarat, India. His significant works include Gazal Purvak and Geet Purvak. The Indian National Theater in Mumbai awarded him the 2008 Shayda Award for his contribution to Gujarati ghazal. He has received the Takhtasinh Parmar Prize literary award, Yuva Gaurav Puraskar award, and the Yuva Puraskar award. He edited Gazalvishwa, a Gujarati ghazal poetry journal, from 2006 to 2007.

Asim Randeri

Asim Randeri, born Subedar Mahmood Mian Muhammad Imam, was a Gujarati language poet, mainly popular for his Ghazals. He was a legend in Gujarati literature from the pre-Independence era and recipient of the Vali Gujarati Award and Kalapi Award of 2005.

Harsh Brahmbhatt is a Gujarati language poet and writer from Gujarat, India. He has also made significant contributions to the Urdu ghazal form. He is a recipient of several awards, including the Shayda Award, Kalapi Award, Kumar Suvarna Chandrak and Dhanji Kanji Gandhi Suvarna Chandrak.

Dhwanil Parekh

Dhwanil Parekh is a Gujarati language poet, critic and playwright from Gujarat, India. His significant works includes Dariyo Bhalene Maane, Antim Yuddha and Sanket. He won Yuva Puraskar of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi for his work Antim Yuddha in 2011. He is also a recipient of Yuva Gaurav Puraskar of 2008 instituted by Gujarat Sahitya Akademi.

Harish Meenashru

Harish Krishnaram Dave, better known by his pen name Harish Meenashru, is a Gujarati language poet and translator from Gujarat, India. He is best known as a postmodern poet in Gujarati literature. Some of his significant works include Dhribaangsundar Eni Pere Dolya (1988), Suno Bhai Sadho (1999), Tandul (1999), Parjanyasukta (1999), and Banaras Diary (2016). His poems have been translated in Hindi, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, German, and English. He received a Kalapi Award (2010), Vali Gujarati Gazal Award (2012), and Narsinh Mehta Award (2014).

Nazir Dekhaiya

Noor Mohammad Allah Rakha Dekhaiya, better known by his takhallus Nazir Dekhaiya, was a Gujarati ghazal poet from Gujarat, India. His ghazal collections include Tushar (1962), Nazirni Ghazalo and Soona Sadan (2006).

The Ramanlal Nilkanth Hasya Prize, is a literary honour in Gujarat, India. It is named after renowned Gujarati writer Ramanbhai Neelkanth. The award is conferred by Gujarat Sahitya Akademi and Government of Gujarat to the Gujarati authors for their significant contribution in Gujarati humour literature. Established in 2016, the award comprises a plaque, shawl and a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000.

Gujarat Sahitya Akademi

The Gujarat Sahitya Akademi or Gujarat Sahitya Academy, established in 1981, is a government institution dedicated to the development of the languages spoken in Gujarat, India and their literature. Gujarati, an official language of Gujarat, is one of them; the others are Hindi, Sanskrit, Kutchi, Sindhi and Urdu. As of 2017, Vishnu Pandya is the chairman of the Akademi.

<i>Patan Thi Pakistan</i> 2013 Gujarati film

Patan Thi Pakistan is a 2013 Gujarati film, starring Vikram Thakor(koli), Pranjal Bhatt and Firoz Irani. Jaimini Trivedi, Paresh Bhatt, Bimal Trivedi, Kaushika Goswami, Rohit Mehta and Trambak Joshi acted in supporting role. Directed by Haresh Patel and produced by Govindbhai Patel, The film tells the story of an inter-religious couple. It was released on 1 November 2013 and was a blockbuster of the year. The film is loosely based on 2001 Hindi film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.
