Acrossocheilus Genus of fishes

Acrossocheilus is a genus of ray-finned fishes in the family Cyprinidae, native to freshwater in China, Taiwan, Laos, and Vietnam. They are fairly small, no more than 30 cm (1 ft) in standard length.

Cyprinus Genus of fishes

Cyprinus is the genus of typical carps in family Cyprinidae. Most species in the genus are of East Asia origin with only the common carp in Western Asia and Europe; this invasive species has also been introduced to many other regions around the world. Cyprinus are closely related to some more barb-like genera, such as Cyclocheilichthys and Barbonymus (tinfoils). The crucian carps (Carassius) of western Eurasia, which include the goldfish, are apparently not as closely related.

Tanichthys Genus of fishes

Tanichthys is a genus of freshwater fish in the carp family (Cyprinidae) of order Cypriniformes. They are native to rivers and streams in China and Vietnam. Until recently, the type species, T. albonubes, was the only one known. In 2001, however, Freyhof and Herder described a new and very similar species, T. micagemmae, from the Ben Hai River in Vietnam and V. H. Nguyen & S. V. Ngô described a third species from Vietnam.

Cyrtodactylus Genus of lizards

Cyrtodactylus is a diverse genus of Asian geckos, commonly known as bent-toed geckos, bow-fingered geckos, and forest geckos. The genus has 361 described species as of 2024, which makes it the largest of all gecko genera.

Channa Genus of fishes

Channa is a genus of predatory fish in the family Channidae, commonly known as snakeheads, native to freshwater habitats in Asia. This genus contains about 50 scientifically described species. The genus has a wide natural distribution extending from Iraq in the west, to Indonesia and China in the east, and parts of Siberia in the Far East. A particularly high richness of species exists in Myanmar (Burma) and northeastern India, and many Channa species live nowhere else. In contrast, a few widespread species have been introduced to several regions outside their natural range, where they often become invasive. The large and medium-sized Channa species are among the most common staple food fish in several Asian countries, and they are extensively cultured. Apart from their importance as a food fish, snakeheads are consumed in some regions as a traditional medicine for wound healing and reducing postoperative pain and discomfort, and collected for the international aquarium pet trade.

Devario Genus of fishes

Devario is a genus of fish in the family Cyprinidae native to the rivers and streams of South and Southeast Asia. These fishes have short barbels and many species having vertical or horizontal stripes. These species consume various small, aquatic insects, crustaceans and worms, as well as, in the case of fry, plankton.

Rasbora Genus of fishes

Rasbora is a genus of fish in the family Cyprinidae. They are native to freshwater habitats in South and Southeast Asia, as well as southeast China. A single species, R. gerlachi, is only known from an old specimen that reputedly originated from Africa (Cameroon), but this locality is considered doubtful. They are small, up to 17 cm (6.7 in) long, although most species do not surpass 10 cm (4 in) and many have a dark horizontal stripe.

Acheilognathus Genus of fishes

Acheilognathus is a genus of cyprinid fish native to Asia. The name is derived from the Greek a, meaning "without", the Greek cheilos, meaning "lip", and the Greek gnathos, meaning "jaw".

Hemibagrus Genus of fishes

Hemibagrus is a genus of catfishes of the family Bagridae.

Garra Genus of fishes

Garra is a genus of fish in the family Cyprinidae. These fish are one example of the "log suckers", sucker-mouthed barbs and other cyprinids commonly kept in aquaria to keep down algae. The doctor fish of Anatolia and the Middle East belongs in this genus. The majority of the more than 160 species of garras are native to Asia, but about one-fifth of the species are from Africa.

Oreonectes is a genus of fish in the family Nemacheilidae found in the rivers and caves of Asia. Many of these species are troglobitic.

Least rasbora Species of fish

The least rasbora or exclamation point rasbora is a species of ray-finned fish in the genus Boraras, native to freshwater habitats in mainland southeast Asia. This species is very small, ranging from 12 to 16 mm.

Placocheilus bibarbatus is a species of ray-finned fish in the genus Placocheilus from Vietnam.

Vinagarra elongata is a species of ray-finned fish in the genus Vinagarra.

Labeobarbus mirabilis Species of fish

Labeobarbus mirabilis is a species of ray-finned fish in the genus Labeobarbus. Its type locality is the Ituri River, near Mawambi, Ituri Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo. It has not been found in other locations. This species was initially placed in the genus Barbus, but is now considered to be a member of Labeobarbus. Some experts have raised the possibility that, with more research, L. mirabilis might become classified as a junior synonym of L. somereni.

Abbottina Genus of fishes

Abbottina is a genus of ray-finned fish in the family Cyprinidae, the carps and minnows. They are native to eastern Asia. The genus was named for the American zoologist James Fisher Abbott, student at Stanford University and later professor of English at Naval Academy Etajima and of zoology at Washington University in St. Louis.

Henicorhynchus Genus of fishes

Henicorhynchus is a genus of cyprinid fish that occurs in Southeast Asia.

Altigena tonkinensis is a species of fish in the family Cyprinidae native to the Red River basin in China and Vietnam. This species was formerly the only member of the monospecific genus Vinalabeo.

Altigena is a genus of cyprinid freshwater fish found in the continental part of South East Asia. This genus was resurrected from Bangana by Maurice Kottelat in 2017.
