History

In November 2013, Radio Free Fort Myers, Inc., applied to the Federal Communications Commission for a construction permit for a new broadcast radio station. [4] On April 6, 2015, after a two-year wait, a construction permit was granted to them by the FCC. On April 15, 2015, the new station was assigned call sign WFKM-LP. [5] On June 7, 2018, the station dropped their original call letters and was reassigned to WOKE-LP. [6] [7] [1] After construction and testing were completed, the station was granted its broadcast license on April 4, 2018. [2]
