Wang Ryung (died May 897),also known as Wang Yung,was a Korean hojok,or local regional lord of Song-ak,who lived during the Later Three Kingdoms period. He was the father of Wang Kon,the founder of the Goryeo dynasty. He was later posthumously honoured with a temple name of Sejo and a posthumous name of King Wimu the Great by his descendants.
In 896,he surrendered to forces of Korean warlord Kung Ye,in exchange for the recognition of Wang's son,Geon,as the castle lord of Song-ak. [1] Kung Ye appointed him as the prefect of Geumseong. He died there a year later.
After he died at Geumseong County in 897,he was buried in a cave along the river in Yeonganseong,which later named and known as Changneung tomb (창릉,昌陵). [2] On 11 March 1217,it was moved to Bongeun Temple (봉은사) and in 1243,it was moved again to Gaegol-dong in Ganghwa. [3] In 1027 (18th years reign of Hyeonjong of Goryeo),he was given a Posthumous name of Won-ryeol(yeol) (원렬(열),元烈) and in 1235 (40th years reign of Gojong of Goryeo),he was given again the name of Min-hye (민혜,敏惠). Queen Heonjeong of the Hwangju Hwangbo clan,or formally called as Grand Queen Mother Hyosuk during her son's reign,was a Goryeo royal family member as the third daughter of Wang Uk and youngest sister of King Seongjong. She later became the fourth wife of her first cousin,King Gyeongjong. After his death,she had an affair with her half uncle,giving birth to King Hyeonjong.
Queen Jeongsun of the Jeonju Kim clan or known as Queen Gyeongsun and formally called as Queen Dowager Sungyeong,was the first and primary wife of Wonjong of Goryeo who became the mother of his successor,Chungnyeol of Goryeo.
Chakchegŏn was a Korean hojok,or local regional lord,of Songak during the late Silla dynasty. He was a powerful and rich figure in the region,with influence over local Yellow Sea maritime trade. He would become the grandfather of Wang Kon,the founder of Goryeo. After Goryeo's establishment,he was given a posthumous name of King Gyeonggang the Great along with his temple name of Uijo in 918. He was buried in Onhyereung tomb.
Queen Wonchang or Queen Gyeongheon,was the grandmother of Wang Geon,founder of the Goryeo dynasty which she later Posthumously honoured as a queen alongside her husband in 919.
Queen Wonseong of the Ansan Kim clan or formally called as Grand Queen Mother Wonseong was a Korean queen consort as the 3rd wife of King Hyeonjong of Goryeo who became the mother of his successors,Deokjong and Jeongjong.
Queen Seonjeong of the Chungju Yu clan was a Goryeo royal family member as the paternal granddaughter of Prince Sumyeong and maternal granddaughter of King Gwangjong who became a queen consort through her marriage with her maternal first cousin or paternal second cousin,King Mokjong as his first and primary wife. From this marriage,Queen Seonjeong became the sixth reigned Goryeo queen who followed her maternal clan after Queen Mundeok,her mother.
Queen Myeongui of the Chŏngju Yu clan was a Korean queen consort as the first and primary wife of King Sukjong of Goryeo and the mother of most of his children.
Queen Uihwa of the Jincheon Im clan was a Goryeo queen consort as the first and primary wife of King Hyejong. Their only son must lost his life for political reasons during King Gwangjong's reign without able to ascended the throne and their eldest daughter instead became Gwangjong's 2nd wife also for political alliance.
Queen Sunjeong of the Goksan Han clan was the second wife of King Gongmin of Goryeo who later became a queen consort after declared to be the legitimate mother of his illegitimate son,King U. She was called before as Palace Lady Han.
Queen Mungong of the Suncheon Bak clan was a Later Baekje royal family member as the second maternal granddaughter of Gyeon Hwon who became a Goryeo queen consort as the first wife of King Jeongjong. She was the second sister,along with Lady Dongsanwon and Queen Munseong.
Queen Mundeok of the Chungju Yu clan was a Goryeo princess as the youngest daughter and child of King Gwangjong and Queen Daemok,also the youngest sister of King Gyeongjong.
Lady Sinjuwon of the Sincheon Gang clan was the daughter of Gang Gi-ju who became the 23rd wife of Taejo of Goryeo.
Queen Daemok of the Hwangju Hwangbo clan,also known as Queen Taemok,was a Goryeo princess as the only daughter of King Taejo and Queen Sinjeong,also the younger sister of King Daejong who became a queen consort through her marriage with her half older brother,King Gwangjong. She was also the mother of most his children and the first Goryeo queen to use her maternal surname,Hwangbo.
Anjong of Goryeo,personal name Wang Uk,was a Goryeo Royal Prince as the only child of King Taejo and Queen Sinseong. He later became the father of King Hyeonjong.
Queen Yongsin of the Danju Han clan or known as Princess Consort Jeongsin was a Korean queen consort as the first wife of Jeongjong of Goryeo.
Queen Seonui of the Chŏngju Yu clan or formally called Grand Queen Mother Seonui,was a Goryeo princess,second daughter of King Taejo and Queen Jeongdeok. She married her half brother,Daejong of Goryeo,giving birth to three sons,and two daughters,Queen Heonae and Queen Heonjeong.
Queen Sinseong or formally called as Queen Dowager Sinseong was a Silla royal family member as the first cousin of King Gyeongsun who became the fifth wife of Taejo of Goryeo and the mother of Anjong of Goryeo,also the grandmother of Hyeonjong of Goryeo which she later posthumously honoured as queen in 1010 under his command.
Queen Sinjeong of the Hwangju Hwangbo clan was the fourth wife of Taejo of Goryeo who became the mother of Daejong of Goryeo and Queen Daemok. All of the Goryeo kings after Gyeongjong were her descendants.
Daejong of Goryeo was a Goryeo Royal Prince as the only son of King Taejo and Queen Sinjeong,elder brother of Queen Daemok and father of King Seongjong. Through his children,he became the grandfather of Queen Wonyong and maternal grandfather to both Mokjong and Hyeonjong.
Queen Wonjeong of the Seonsan Kim clan was a Goryeo princess as the older daughter and child of King Seongjong,from Queen Munhwa who became a queen consort through her marriage with her half first cousin once removed,King Hyeonjong as his first and primary wife. From this marriage,Queen Wonjeong became the seventh reigned Goryeo queen who followed her maternal clan after Queen Seonjeong,her stepsister and predecessor.
