Wankarani (Aymara wankanra a kind of drum, [2] -ni a suffix to indicate ownership, "the one with a wankara", Hispanicized spelling Huancarani) is a 5,181-metre-high (16,998 ft) mountain in the Andes of southern Peru. It is situated in the Puno Region, Puno Province, on the border of the districts Pichacani and San Antonio. [1] [3]

Aymara language native language in South America

Aymara is an Aymaran language spoken by the Aymara people of the Andes. It is one of only a handful of Native American languages with over one million speakers. Aymara, along with Spanish, is one of the official languages of Bolivia and parts of Peru. It is also spoken, to a much lesser extent, by some communities in northern Chile, where it is a recognized minority language.

In linguistics, a suffix is an affix which is placed after the stem of a word. Common examples are case ending, which indicate the grammatical cased of nouns or adjectives, and verb endings, which form the conjugation of verbs.

Andes mountain range running along the tu mamide of South America

The Andes or Andean Mountains are the longest continental mountain range in the world, forming a continuous highland along the western edge of South America. This range is about 7,000 km (4,300 mi) long, about 200 to 700 km wide, and of an average height of about 4,000 m (13,000 ft). The Andes extend from north to south through seven South American countries: Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina.

Wankarani (Huancarani) is also the name of a river which originates north of the mountain. Along the village of Wankarani (Huancarane) it flows to the north as a tributary of the Uturunqani River. [3]

It is located in the La Paz Department, Los Andes Province, Laja Municipality, near Saqaqani (Sacacani). Jach'a Wankarani lies north-east of the mountain Phujtir Pata Punta. It is situated next to the mountain Wankarani.

Cunuyo mountain in Peru

Cunuyo is a mountain in the north of the Apolobamba mountain range on the border of Bolivia and Peru. It is about 5,100 metres (16,732 ft) high. On the Bolivian side it is located in the La Paz Department, Franz Tamayo Province, Pelechuco Municipality, and on the Peruvian side it lies in the Puno Region, Putina Province, Sina District. Cunuyo is situated southwest of the mountain Locopauchenta and east of Losojocha.

Janqu Uma (Peru) mountain in Peru

Janq'u Uma is a mountain in the north of the Apolobamba mountain range in the Andes of Peru, about 4,900 metres (16,076 ft) high. It is located in the Puno Region, Sandia Province, Cuyocuyo District. Janq'u Uma lies northwest of the mountain Wilaquta, northeast of Qurwari and southwest of Utkhuqaqa. Two little streams named Janq'u Uma (Janjouma) and Qullqipirwa (Jolljepirhua) originate west and east of the mountain. They flow to the river Lawa Lawani which runs to the north. It belongs to the watershed of the Inambari River.

It is situated in the Cusco Region, Canchis Province, Checacupe District, and in the Puno Region, Carabaya Province, Corani District. Culi lies south of the mountain Otoroncane, west of Sapanuta, northwest of Pomanota and Jampatune and southeast of Sayrecucho and Tutallipina. The river Pomanota originates southeast of the mountain. It flows to the southwest as a tributary of Vilcanota River.

Its waters flow to the Vilcanota River.

Saytajota is situated northwest of the lake Tocsajota and the mountain Vilajota and east of the lake Parinajota and another lake named Saytajota which lies next to Parinajota, north of it.
