The West Virginia Mountaineers men's soccer team is the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I soccer team of West Virginia University (WVU). Beginning with the 2012 season, the team was an affiliate member of the Mid-American Conference because WVU is the only school in its primary conference, the Big 12 Conference, that has a varsity men's soccer team. For the 2022 season, West Virginia joined in-state rival Marshall in the Sun Belt Conference, and the Mountain State Derby will become an annual conference game. WVU had been scheduled to leave the MAC for Conference USA but this plan was changed when Marshall changed conferences from CUSA to the SBC.

Kathleen Ann Deines is an American soccer midfielder–defender. She most recently played for Turbine Potsdam in the German Bundesliga and Seattle Reign FC of the National Women's Soccer League. Deines was a fourth round pick of the Atlanta Beat of Women's Professional Soccer in the 2012 WPS Draft of college seniors on January 13, 2012. The WPS Board of Governors voted to suspend the 2012 season on January 30 citing pending legal issues. Subsequently, she was free to sign with other teams and rejoined the Seattle Sounders Women, the organization she had previously played for from 2007 to 2009. After the formation of the National Women's Soccer League in late 2012, Deines played for the Seattle Reign during the league's first two seasons. She was traded to FC Kansas City in late 2014 but announced her retirement from professional soccer on March 31, 2015, before the 2015 season began.

The Washington Huskies volleyball team is the intercollegiate women's volleyball team of the University of Washington in Seattle. They compete in the Big Ten Conference and play their home games at Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion, which was built in 1927 and renovated in 2000. Prior to 1988, the Washington volleyball program had seen Huskies' victories, but it has now emerged as a perennial power. The Huskies have reached the NCAA Final Four on five occasions with one national title (2005), and won multiple Pac-10/12 championships.

Caroline Roseland Leith is an American former soccer player who played as a forward, for the United States women's national team. A long-time member of the United States Women's Youth National Soccer Team, participating on the U-16, U-18, U-20, U-21 teams. Recognized as first player from State of Utah to earn cap for participation in an international contest. She was the Utah Female Athlete of the Year (1997), Utah State Player of the Year (1996,1997), Umbro All-American (1996,1997), Parade All-American (1996,1997), and the Utah State University Graduate Assistant Coach (2003-2005). She scored 100 goals in 39 games for Bountiful High School. She was also a member of the Seattle Sounders women's semi-professional team. Caroline and her husband, Galen Leith, live in Colorado with their three kids.

Summer Faith Yates is an American professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for the Orlando Pride of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). Internationally she has represented the United States at multiple youth levels.
