Webster Gradney Jr. who performs under the mononym Webbie, is an American rapper from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He's been signed to the independent Trill Entertainment label since 2003. In 2005 he came into the hip hop scene with "Gimme That" featuring Bun B. His songs "Bad Bitch" and "Swerve" were featured on Gangsta Musik, his 2003 group album with Lil Boosie, and in the 2005 movie Hustle & Flow. Webbie's second album, Savage Life 2, was released in early 2008 with the hit single "Independent" featuring Lil Boosie and Lil Phat.

The song's backing track was composed by American record producer Mouse On Tha Track. A remixed version, featuring additional vocals from fellow rappers Lil Boosie and Webbie, was released as a single in 2007, with Lil Boosie listed as the lead artist. There is another remixed version featuring UGK, Foxx has different vocals than the other remix version along with vocals from Pimp C & Bun B.

"Independent" is the first single by Webbie from his second album Savage Life 2. It features Lil Phat and Lil Boosie and a sample of Webbie's "Bad Bitch" in the chorus. Rapper Macklemore would later sample "Independent" on his #1 hit, "Can't Hold Us".

Savage Life 2 is the second studio album by American rapper Webbie. The album was released on February 26, 2008, by Trill Entertainment, Asylum Records, and Atlantic Records. The album debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200 with 72,000 copies sold in its first week. The first single was "Independent," featuring Lil Boosie and Lil Phat and peaked at number 9 on the Hot 100. The second single was "I Miss You" featuring LeToya Luckett. The album also features guest appearances by Rick Ross, Bun B and the whole Trill Entertainment roster.

Superbad: The Return of Boosie Bad Azz is the fourth solo studio album by American rapper Lil' Boosie. It was released on September 15, 2009, via Trill Entertainment, Asylum Records and Warner Bros. Records. Production was handled by DJ B Real, BJ, Mouse, Big Wayne, Guss, Nard & B, Shonta and The Runners, with Turk & Mel serving as executive producers. It features guest appearances from Lil Phat, Mouse, Webbie, Bobby V, Foxx, Kade, Lil Trill, Trina and Young Jeezy.

In 1994, Mystikal released a self-titled album on the independent record label Big Boy. It was released on November 9, 2010, with distribution via Warner Bros. Records. Recording sessions took place at Trill Studios in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Production was handled by in-house producer Mouse, as well as BJ, J Buck, B Hitz, Big Wayne, Devin B., DJ B Real, Q Red, S-8ighty, with Turk & Mel serving as executive producers. It features contributions from the label's roster Lil' Boosie, Webbie, Lil' Trill, Lil Phat, Foxx, Mouse, Shell, Kim McCoy, Big Head and Kade, featuring fellow Louisiana-based rapper Birdman. The album peaked at number 49 on the Billboard 200.
