1974 Asian Games Seventh edition of the Asian Games

The 7th Asian Games were held from 1 to 16 September 1974 in Tehran, Imperial State of Iran. The Aryamehr Sports Complex was built for the Games. The Asian Games were hosted in the Middle East for the first time. Tehran, the capital of Iran, played host to 3,010 athletes coming from 25 countries/NOCs, the highest number of participants since the inception of the Games.

Weightlifting was contested by both men and women at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar from December 2 to December 6, 2006. There are seven weight categories for the women and eight for the men. All competition took place at the Banquet Hall, Al-Dana Club.

2008 Asian Weightlifting Championships

The 2008 Asian Weightlifting Championships were held at Ishikawa Sports Center in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture Japan between April 26 and May 5 2008. It was the 39th men's and 20th women's championship. Much of the responsibility for the event lay with the Japan Weightlifting Association overlooked by the Asian Weightlifting Federation. The event had major significance for Asian weightlifters as the championships were the official qualifications for Weightlifting at the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Weightlifting contested from December 7 to December 14 at the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok Land Sports Complex, Bangkok, Thailand.

Weightlifting at the 2010 Asian Games was held in Guangzhou, China from November 13 to 19, 2010. There are seven weight categories for the women and eight for the men. All competition took place at the Dongguan Arena.

The 2000 Asian Weightlifting Championships were held in Osaka, Japan between May 3 and May 6, 2000. It was the 32nd men's and 13th women's championship. The event was organised by the Asian Weightlifting Federation.

Weightlifting competitions at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro took place from 6 to 16 August at the Pavilion 2 of Riocentro. 260 athletes competed in 15 different events according to their respective weight categories. Bulgaria and Russia were banned from participating in the sport for systematic doping.

The 2016 Asian Weightlifting Championships was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from April 22 - 30, 2016. It was the 46th men's and 27th women's championship.

The 2017 Asian Weightlifting Championships were held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan between April 23 and April 29, 2017. It was the 47th men's and 28th women's championship.

2017 World Weightlifting Championships

The 2017 World Weightlifting Championships were held in Anaheim, United States from 28 November to 5 December 2017. This amazing event was managed by USA Weightlifting, the IWF, and Sports Anaheim. The staff included Pedro Maloni as the Director of Events, Spencer Molnar Sales Manager, and many more great staff members.
