The 1986 Asian Games, officially known as the 10th Asian Games and the X Asiad and commonly known as Seoul 1986 were held from 20 September to 5 October 1986, in Seoul, South Korea. The venues and facilities of the 10th Asiad were the same venues and facilities that would be used in the 1988 Summer Olympics, as it was considered a test event.

Athletics was contested from October 7 to October 14 at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan Asiad Main Stadium, Busan, South Korea. A total of 459 athletes from 39 nations took part in the competition. Afghanistan, Bhutan, Brunei, Laos and Maldives were the only nations without a representative in the events.

Modern pentathlon was one of the many sports which was held at the 2002 Asian Games in Changwon International Shooting Range, Changwon Evergreen Hall, Changwon Swimming Pool, Busan Equestrian Grounds and Samnak Riverside Athletic Park in Changwon and Busan, South Korea between 10 and 13 October 2002.

Shooting at the 2010 Asian Games was held in Aoti Shooting Range in Guangzhou, China between 13 November and 24 November 2010.

KT Shooting Team was formed in 1985. The South Korean National Shooting Team is the KT Shooting Team; all of its 11 shooters are part of the National Team. KT Company is sponsoring the KT Shooting Team. It’s the best shooting team in South Korea, and the team won a gold medal in the Beijing Olympics. Afghanistan participated in the 2002 Asian Games held in Busan, South Korea, from September 29 to October 14, 2002. This marked Afghanistan's return to international sporting events after the fall of the Taliban regime. The Afghan delegation consisted of 12 officials and 44 competitors participating in seven different sports. The Afghanistan national football team played its first international match since the 1984 AFC Asian Cup qualification phase. An English teacher from Kabul, Roia Zamani, won a bronze medal in the 72 kg middleweight class of taekwondo without winning a single match. Zamani was the only medalist from the Afghan side and the first Afghan medalist in 20 years. None of the remaining athletes advanced past the qualifying stages, and as such did not win any medals.

Hyun Joo-yup is a South Korean former professional basketball player and head coach. He is regarded as one of the greatest power forwards of all time in the Korean Basketball League (KBL). Hyun was given the moniker "Magic Hippo", "The Lord of the Military", "Point Forward" and "Korean Charles Barkley" for his size, versatility, and dominance. He is known for being the only player who broke the backboard in Korean basketball history.
