Weightlifting is one of the sports contested at the 2022 Pacific Mini Games , to be held in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands. The competition is scheduled to take place between 20 and 23 June 2022, spread across twenty weight classes (ten per gender). [1] [2]

Contents

The event was also designated the 2022 Oceania Senior Weightlifting Championships.

The 1997 South Pacific Mini Games were held at Pago Pago in American Samoa from 11 to 22 August 1997. It was the fifth edition of the South Pacific Mini Games. It was much larger than previous editions, with an almost doubling of the number of medals awarded compared to the 1993 South Pacific Mini Games. The impressive performances by Nauru in weightlifting continued in Pago Pago, with the tiny nation finishing on top of the unofficial medal table after winning 33 gold.

This event was originally going to be held in 2021, but was postponed to 2022 due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Triathlon at the Pacific Games was first contested at the 1995 games at Papeete. It has also been included in the Pacific Mini Games, firstly at Norfolk Island in 2001.

The 2023 Pacific Games, officially known as the XVII Pacific Games and commonly known as Sol 2023 or Honiara 2023, was a continental multi-sport event for Oceania countries and territories held in Honiara, Solomon Islands between 19 November and 2 December 2023. This was the first time that the Solomon Islands have hosted the Pacific Games.

The tennis competition at the 2022 Pacific Mini Games took place from 16 to 24 June 2022 at the American Memorial Park and Pacific Islands Club in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands. Tennis along with only one other sport commenced a day before the official opening ceremony of the games.

The outrigger canoeing competition, mostly referred to as Va'a in the Pacific region, at the 2022 Pacific Mini Games will be held from 20–24 June 2022 at the 13th Fishermen Memorial Monument Beach in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands.

The triathlon competition at the 2022 Pacific Mini Games will be held on June 20 and 22, at the West Marine Harbor, and Round House in Rota, Northern Mariana Islands.

For the first time in the history of the Pacific Mini Games, the sport of badminton made its debut at the 2022 Pacific Mini Games in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands. It was held at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium from the 20-25 June 2022.

Baseball made its second Pacific Mini Games appearance at the 2022 Pacific Mini Games on June 16-24 at the Oleai Sports Complex - Francisco “Tan Ko” M. Palacios Baseball Field in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands. The Northern Mariana Islands team won the gold medal, defeating Guam by 12–9 in the final.

The beach volleyball competition at the 2022 Pacific Mini Games will be held from 20 to 24 June 2022 at the Crowne Plaza Resort Beach in Saipan, and Tachogna Beach in Tinian, Northern Mariana Islands.

The team competition for Tennis at the 2022 Pacific Mini Games took place at the American Memorial Park and Pacific Islands Club in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands from 16 to 18 June 2022.

The men's singles tennis event at the 2022 Pacific Mini Games took place at the American Memorial Park and Pacific Islands Club in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands from 19 to 24 June 2022.

The women's singles tennis event at the 2022 Pacific Mini Games took place at the American Memorial Park and Pacific Islands Club in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands from 19 to 25 June 2022.

The Northern Mariana Islands national badminton team represents Northern Mariana Islands, an unincorporated territory and commonwealth of the United States, in international badminton team competitions. The Northern Mariana Islands national team is controlled by the Northern Marianas Badminton Association in Saipan.
