Eve 6 is an American rock band formed in 1995 in Southern California, best known for their hit singles "Inside Out" and "Here's to the Night". They disbanded in 2004, returned for numerous tours in 2007 with a new lineup, and finally reunited with all three original members in early 2011. They signed to Fearless Records in the spring of that year, and released their fourth album Speak in Code, containing the singles "Victoria" and "Curtain," in April 2012. In 2021, they released a new EP, Grim Value, and in 2022, they released a full-length album on Velocity Records titled Hyper Relevisation.
Remix culture, also known as read-write culture, is a term describing a culture that allows and encourages the creation of derivative works by combining or editing existing materials. Remix cultures are permissive of efforts to improve upon, change, integrate, or otherwise remix the work of other creators. While combining elements has always been a common practice of artists of all domains throughout human history, the growth of exclusive copyright restrictions in the last several decades limits this practice more and more by the legal chilling effect. In reaction, Harvard law professor Lawrence Lessig, who considers remixing a desirable concept for human creativity, has worked since the early 2000s on a transfer of the remixing concept into the digital age. Lessig founded the Creative Commons in 2001, which released a variety of licenses as tools to promote remix culture, as remixing is legally hindered by the default exclusive copyright regime applied currently on intellectual property. The remix culture for cultural works is related to and inspired by the earlier Free and open-source software for software movement, which encourages the reuse and remixing of software works.

Electra Heart is the second studio album by Welsh singer Marina Diamandis, released under the stage name Marina and the Diamonds. It was released on 27 April 2012 by 679 Artists and Atlantic Records. Kill Kill is the debut extended play (EP) by American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey, released under her former stage name Lizzy Grant, on October 21, 2008, in the United States through 5 Points Records. The three songs on the EP would later be included on the 2010 album Lana Del Ray. "Yayo" would later be re-recorded and released a third time, on Del Rey's 2012 EP, Paradise. "Kill Kill" was the EP's only single. A music video accompanied the track and was published in 2008.

Interscope Records released it on May 6, 2013. The album was produced by Baz Luhrmann and Anton Monsted, with Jay-Z serving as the album's executive producer. The soundtrack comprises fourteen songs, including new material and cover versions performed by various artists. It contains a mixture of genre, including hip hop, jazz, and alternative music. Luhrmann specifically selected these styles of music to better immerse the audience into the story of The Great Gatsby.

A dream pop and bubblegum pop song, "Lust for Life" is reminiscent of 1960s music, especially from girl groups like the Shangri-Las and the Angels; the latter's 1963 song "My Boyfriend's Back" is referenced in the lyrics. Upholstery is a music collective from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Formed in 2007, the group's musical style draws heavily from early and mid-20th century music of the United States, including blues, swing, and rhythm and blues mixed with elements of math rock, jazz, and chamber music. The band's recorded output consists of studio-produced concept albums, background scores created for independent theater productions, and musical selections from its telenovela theater alter-ego, Señor Papos. Upholsery's live performances are characterized by the use of theatrical stagecraft, character-based costumes, props, and puppetry.
Shadow Hearts is a series of role-playing video games, consisting of a trilogy of titles for the PlayStation 2 (PS2) and their predecessor Koudelka for the PlayStation. The entire series was developed by Sacnoth ; Koudelka was published by SNK in 1999, while the Shadow Hearts trilogy were published by Aruze from 2001 to 2005. Multiple other publishers handled the titles overseas. The Shadow Hearts chronology extends from the late 1890s to the 1920s, following different casts of characters caught in supernatural mysteries. The setting combines alternate history and cosmic horror, with real-world figures making appearances, and each title has multiple endings.
