William Hoy is an American film editor with over two dozen feature-film editing credits since 1988. Hoy and Stan Salfas won Satellite Awards for Best Editing for the films Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) and War for the Planet of the Apes (2017). Hoy and Tyler Nelson were nominated the Saturn Award for Best Editing for The Batman (2022). Hoy is a member of American Cinema Editors (ACE). [1]
Hoy has collaborated with director Zack Snyder on the films 300 (2006), Watchmen (2009), and Sucker Punch (2011). [2] He has also collaborated with director Matt Reeves on the films Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, War for the Planet of the Apes, and The Batman.
Hoy has a sister, Maysie Hoy, who is also a film editor. [2]
One of Hoy's first credits as editor was the film Silent Assassins (1988). [3] Before then, his earliest credits were as assistant editor for the films Quintet (1979) and Health (1980). [4]

Founded in 1950, American Cinema Editors (ACE) is an honorary society of film editors that are voted in based on the qualities of professional achievements, their education of others, and their dedication to editing. Members use the post-nominal letters "ACE". The organization's "Eddie Awards" are routinely covered in trade magazines such as The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. The society is not an industry union, such as the I.A.T.S.E., to which an editor might also belong. The current President of ACE is Kevin Tent, who was elected in 2020.

He often works with film director Sam Raimi, having edited the Spider-Man trilogy, Oz the Great and Powerful, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Murawski is an elected member of the American Cinema Editors, and is the co-founder of Grindhouse Releasing, an acclaimed film distribution company specializing in re-releases of cult films.
Dennis Virkler was an American film editor with more than 40 credits dating from 1973. He was nominated twice for the Academy Award for Best Film Editing, and was elected as a member of the American Cinema Editors. The Fugitive (1993) was listed as the 39th best-edited film of all time in a 2012 survey of members of the Motion Picture Editors Guild. Virkler died from heart failure on September 15, 2022. He was 80.
