Founded in 1950, American Cinema Editors (ACE) is an honorary society of film editors who are voted in based on the qualities of professional achievements, their education of others, and their dedication to editing. Members use the post-nominal letters "ACE". The organization's "Eddie Awards" are routinely covered in trade magazines such as The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. The society is not an industry union, such as the I.A.T.S.E., to which an editor might also belong. The current president of ACE is Kevin Tent, who was elected in 2020.

Arthur Robert Schmidt was an American film editor with about 27 film credits between 1977 and 2005. Schmidt had an extended collaboration with director Robert Zemeckis from the Back to the Future film trilogy (1985–1990) to Cast Away (2000).

Anne Voase Coates was a British film editor with a more than 60-year-long career. She was perhaps best known as the editor of David Lean's epic film Lawrence of Arabia in 1962, for which she won an Oscar. Coates was nominated five times for the Academy Award for Best Film Editing for the films Lawrence of Arabia, Becket (1963), The Elephant Man (1980), In the Line of Fire (1993) and Out of Sight (1998). In an industry where women accounted for only 16 per cent of all editors working on the top 250 films of 2004, and 80 per cent of the films had absolutely no women on their editing teams at all, Coates thrived as a top film editor. She was awarded BAFTA's highest honour, a BAFTA Fellowship, in February 2007 and was given an Academy Honorary Award, which are popularly known as a Lifetime Achievement Oscar, in November 2016 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Gerald Bernard "Jerry" Greenberg was an American film editor with more than 40 feature film credits. Greenberg received both the Academy Award for Best Film Editing and the BAFTA Award for Best Editing for the film The French Connection (1971). In the 1980s, he edited five films with director Brian De Palma.
Richard Marks was an American film editor with more than 30 editing credits for feature and television films dating from 1972. In an extended, notable collaboration (1983–2010), he edited all of director James L. Brooks' feature films.
Terence Rawlings was a British film editor and sound editor with several BAFTA nominations and one Academy Award nomination. His credits as a sound editor date from 1962–1977, after which he was credited primarily as a film editor.

Mathilde Bonnefoy is a French film editor and director who was nominated for an ACE Eddie Award for the editing of the film Run Lola Run (1998) and who won the award for editing the documentary Citizenfour (2014). She and her husband Dirk Wilutzky additionally served as producers of Citizenfour with its director Laura Poitras, and the three received the 2014 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
Conrad Buff IV is an American film editor with more than 25 film credits since 1985. Buff is known for winning an Academy Award for Best Film Editing and an ACE Eddie Award for Titanic (1997); the awards were shared with his co-editors James Cameron and Richard A. Harris. He won the 2000 Satellite Award for Best Editing for Thirteen Days.
David Edward Blewitt was an American Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning film editor, whose credits included Ghostbusters in 1984. Blewitt earned an Academy Award nomination for his work on The Competition in 1980.
The American Cinema Editors Award for Best Edited Animated Feature Film is one of the annual awards given by the American Cinema Editors. This award was first given out in 2010. As of 2024, both The Lego Movie and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse are the only films which have won the award without also winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

Kevin Tent is an American film editor and director. Tent has been elected to membership in the American Cinema Editors (ACE) and serves as President of the board. He is best known for his longstanding collaboration with Alexander Payne, having edited every feature film Payne has directed as of 2023. For his work on Payne's films, Tent has been nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Editing for his works in The Descendants and The Holdovers. Tent also won an ACE Eddie award for first film and received three other ACE Eddie Award nominations for Election, Sideways and About Schmidt. In addition to his career in editing, Tent also co-directed two films, Ultra Warrior (1990) and Blackbelt II (1993), and directed the 2017 film Crash Pad.
Ernst Ragnar Rolf, better known as Tom Rolf, was a Swedish-born American film editor who worked on at least 48 feature films in a career spanning over fifty years. Most notable among these films are Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver, for which he was nominated for the 1976 BAFTA Award for Best Editing, and Philip Kaufman's The Right Stuff, for which he and his editing team won the 1983 Oscar for Best Film Editing. Other notable films he edited include WarGames, Jacob's Ladder, Heat and The Horse Whisperer.
Jon Henry Albert Gregory was a British film editor. He was born in Lahore, British Raj to British parents, and raised in England from the age of nine, where he was educated at Reigate Grammar School.
Yang Jin-mo (Korean: 양진모) is a South Korean film editor. He is best known internationally for his work on multiple Academy Award winner Parasite as editor, which earned him critical appraisal and recognition including an American Cinema Editors Award for Best Edited Feature Film – Dramatic at the American Cinema Editors Awards in 2020 and the 2019 Online Film Critics Society Award for Best Editing. This made Parasite the first non-English-language film to win the top prize at the American Cinema Editors' Eddie Awards. He was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Editing for his work on Parasite.
