The Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay is the Academy Award for the best screenplay adapted from previously established material. The most frequently adapted media are novels, but other adapted narrative formats include stage plays, musicals, short stories, TV series, and even other films and film characters. All sequels are also considered adaptations by this standard.
The Academy Award for Best Film Editing is one of the annual awards of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). Nominations for this award are closely correlated with the Academy Award for Best Picture. For 33 consecutive years, 1981 to 2013, every Best Picture winner had also been nominated for the Film Editing Oscar, and about two thirds of the Best Picture winners have also won for Film Editing. Only the principal, "above the line" editor(s) as listed in the film's credits are named on the award; additional editors, supervising editors, etc. are not currently eligible.

The American Cinema Editors Award for Best Edited Animated Feature Film is one of the annual awards given by the American Cinema Editors. This award was first given out in 2010. As of 2023, The Lego Movie is the only film which has won the award without also winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

For the American Cinema Editors Award for Best Edited Feature Film – Dramatic he has received a string of five nominations over eight years and in 2016 he won, for Arrival. He took the European Film Award for Best Editor for Shame in 2012 and Satellite Award for Best Editing for Sicario in 2016.
Tim Porter is a British film editor, best known for his work on the HBO series, Game of Thrones, as well as several other notable British television series. He worked as an editor and co-producer on the Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon.

Ford v Ferrari is a 2019 American biographical sports drama film directed by James Mangold and written by Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth, and Jason Keller. It stars Matt Damon and Christian Bale, with Jon Bernthal, Caitríona Balfe, Tracy Letts, Josh Lucas, Noah Jupe, Remo Girone, and Ray McKinnon in supporting roles. The plot follows a determined team of American and Swedish engineers and designers, led by automotive designer Carroll Shelby and his British driver, Ken Miles, who are hired by Henry Ford II and Lee Iacocca to build a race car to defeat the perennially dominant Italian racing team Scuderia Ferrari at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France.
John Warhurst is a British sound editor. He won the Academy Award for Best Sound Editing for the film Bohemian Rhapsody (2018).
The 92nd Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), honored films released in 2019 and took place on February 9, 2020, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, beginning at 5:00 p.m. PST / 8:00 p.m. EST. During the ceremony, the AMPAS presented Academy Awards in 24 categories. The ceremony, televised in the United States by ABC, was produced by Stephanie Allain and Lynette Howell Taylor and was directed by Glenn Weiss. Three months earlier in a ceremony at the Ray Dolby Ballroom of the Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood held on October 27, 2019, the Academy held its 11th Annual Governors Awards ceremony.
The 23rd Hollywood Film Awards were held on November 3, 2019. The ceremony took place at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, and was hosted by Rob Riggle.
The 24th San Diego Film Critics Society Awards were announced on December 9, 2019.
The 70th American Cinema Editors Eddie Awards was presented on January 17, 2020, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, honoring the best editors in films and television. The nominees were announced on December 11, 2019.

Donald Sylvester is an American sound editor who has worked on over 100 films. He is best known for his work with James Mangold on the films Ford v Ferrari (2019), Logan (2017), 3:10 to Yuma (2007), and Walk the Line (2005). Sylvester won the Academy Award for Best Sound Editing at the 92nd Academy Awards for Ford v Ferrari and BAFTA Award for Best Sound at the 59th British Academy Film Awards for Walk the Line. He has been a member of BAFTA since 2007.
Myron Kerstein is an American film editor. He was nominated for an Academy Award in the category Best Film Editing for the film Tick, Tick... Boom!.
