William Samson Kalema, is a Ugandan chemical engineer, business consultant and entrepreneur, who serves as the managing partner of BDO East Africa, "a professional firm that offers audit, accounting, tax and business advisory services to private and public sector clients", in the countries of the East African Community and Ethiopia. Background and education

Kalema was born at Mulago, in Kampala, Uganda's capital city. After attending primary school locally, he was admitted to Kings College Budo, where he completed his middle and high school education. He obtained his High School Diploma from Budo. [2]

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree, both in chemical engineering and both awarded by the University of Cambridge, in the United Kingdom. His Doctor of Philosophy degree, also in chemical engineering, was obtained from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), in Pasadena, California, United States, in 1984. [2]

Career

As of December 2020, his career stretches back over more than four decades. Between 1974 until 1978, he served as a Metallurgical Engineer in the copper mining industry, based in the Zambian city of Ndola. He also served as a research engineer and business analyst at the DuPont Company, based in the state of Delaware, United States, serving in that capacity between 1984 ad 1992. [1] [2]

In 1992, he returned to Uganda and became a consultant to government, businesses and development agencies. He has, in the past and continues, as of December 2020, to serve on a number of boards of national, regional and international organizations. Cipla Quality Chemical Industries Limited (CiplaQCIL) is a pharmaceutical manufacturing company in Uganda. According to a 2007 published report, it was the only company in Africa that manufactured triple-combination antiretroviral (ARV) drugs. CiplaQCIL also manufactures the antimalarial drug Lumartem, containing artemisinin and lumefantrine, and the Hepatitis B generic medicines Texavir and Zentair.

Patrick Bitature is a Ugandan businessman, entrepreneur and author. He is believed to be the second wealthiest Ugandan after Sudhir Ruparelia. He is the founder, chairman and Group CEO of the Simba Group of Companies which is primarily based in East Africa. The Simba Group of Companies started in 1998 with the flagship telecom business but has since grown to a conglomerate of East Africa-based companies spanning telecoms, properties, power generation, agro-business, mining, tourism and media. At end 2011 the Group employed over 600 direct staff and - 1500 indirect staff.

Samuel Kisakye Sejjaaka is a Ugandan accountant, academic and businessman. He is Principal and Country Team Leader at MAT ABACUS Business School. Between 1993 and 2014, he lectured at Uganda's oldest tertiary institution, Makerere University and rose to the position of Deputy Principal. In December 2014, he retired from the institution at age 50. He then helped establish Abacus Business School, Uganda's premier executive education institution. In 2019, Abacus Business school merged with the Management Accountancy Training Company (MAT) to form MAT ABACUS Business School.

Margaret Blick Kigozi, commonly known as Maggie Kigozi, is a Ugandan medical doctor, business consultant, educator, and sportswoman. She is a consultant at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). She formerly served as the executive director of the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), from 1999 until 2011.

Kampala Associated Advocates (KAA) is an international law firm based in Uganda with a presence in the countries of the African Great Lakes. Martin Jerome Okec Aliker is a Ugandan dental surgeon, businessman, entrepreneur, and community leader. He is a senior adviser to the President of Uganda and has sat on the board of directors of nearly forty Ugandan companies. He is the chancellor of Victoria University Uganda, a private institution. From 2004 until 2014, he served as the founding chancellor of Gulu University, a public university.

Patrick Mweheire is a Ugandan investment banker and bank executive. He is the regional group managing director and regional group chief executive of Standard Bank Group for Eastern Africa. He took up this position on 1 March 2020.

Juma Kisaame is a Ugandan accountant, businessman, and former bank executive. He is the current chairman of the Uganda Revenue Authority, since March 2020. He also serves as chairman of Uganda Investment Authority.

ROKO Construction Limited, also Roko Construction Limited, is one of the top five construction companies in Uganda, according to Construction Review Online, as of April 2021. Winifred Mary Tarinyeba Kiryabwire, , is a Ugandan lawyer, academic and businesswoman who is the chairperson of DFCU Bank, a large commercial bank in that East African country. She was appointed to that position effective 1 April 2022.
