The album was critically acclaimed, with reviews including 4 stars from The Independent and 4 stars from Q . BBC Radio 2 made Written in Scars their Album of the Week on 1 February 2015, [2] and Tesco also made it their Album of the Week on 10 April 2015.

After the success of the album, Savoretti released a lengthier 20-track edition on BMG Rights Management (UK) Ltd titled Written in Scars (New Edition). The first 11 tracks were identical and in same order as appearing in the original album.

The remaining nine tracks included two brand new songs, "Back Where I Belong" and "Catapult", five live renditions of tracks appearing in the original album including the title track. The remaining two new tracks are collaborations with Alexander Brown, first in a rendition of "Jack In a Box" as a duet with him, the second the track "The Other Side of Love" with a vocal remix of Alexander Brown.

Her passion and love for the music industry stemmed from her influential grandfather, who was a gifted Italian tenor. From a young age, Cosima has performed, winning her first talent quest at the young age of 9. In 2003 Cosima appeared on the first season of Australian Idol. After reaching the semi-finals, Cosima had to withdraw from the series due to throat nodules.

The song was written by Minogue, Savoretti and its producer Samuel Dixon. "Music's Too Sad Without You" has been described as a country-tinged ballad. Savoretti included a live performance of the song on the deluxe edition of his sixth studio album, Singing to Strangers (2019), and included the original version on the special edition of that album.

Singing to Strangers is the sixth studio album by English singer-songwriter Jack Savoretti, released on 15 March 2019 through BMG. The lead single, "Candlelight", was released in December 2018. Savoretti embarked on a European tour in support of the album. It debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart with 32,264 units. It is Savoretti's final album for BMG.
